Natural Essence - In Search of Happiness lp . Some of the best soulful jazz that I have heard in a long time resides on this record. I picked this up on whim , and was very pleasantly surprised .

Stanley Cowell - Waiting For The Moment lp . this was an interesting album . The first side is just Stanley and his piano , while on the flip side , he plays many different keyed instrument (keyboards,synths,etc..). All played by him alone. If you like piano jazz , this is a great cop!!

Sharon Jones And The Dap-Kings - Give The People What They Want lp . Ms. Jones did her thing on this one. I wasn't sure what to expect after all the struggle she was going through while recording this album , but it blew me away !! Such a great funky soul album. Definitely one of my favorite albums by her . I copped the deluxe edition which came with a dope t-shirt , a poster , an autographed glossy (she said she loves me on it ), some stickers , and this 7"..

People Get What They Deserve / Slow Down , Love ...I can't decide which track I like better ( they are both that good) . Now I think I'm gonna have to cop the Mono version of the album...

Lilia Vera - Volumen 4 lp . This is another one I picked up on a whim . it is very folky music from the Dominican Republic . I wasn't too sure about it on the first listen , but it has grown on me a lot . great chill out music .

The Headhunters - Straight From The Gate lp . Funky Funky Funky . Another one I shoulda copped a long time ago..

The Pharaohs - In the Basement lp . A great mix of Jazz , Soul, and Funk instrumentals to back some amazing Gil Scott-Heron style spoken word . Another one I highly recommend !!
Speaking of Gil Scott-Heron ....

Gil Scott-Heron and Brian Jackson - 1980 lp. Definitely a great album , but it ranks kinda low for me compared to Gil's earlier work . I don't want to turn anybody away from this album , that doesn't already own it . As I said , it is still very good ..

The 24-Carat Black - Ghetto Misfortune's Wealth lp . First off , I would like to say thanks to Rhecka for the heads up on this repress !! Such a dope soul album . Another great 4 Men With Beards repress.
I've got more , but I have to get ready to meet up with some friends ,so to be continued ......

Eugene McDaniels - Headless Heroes Of The Apocalypse lp . Another one of those records that I have wanted for a long time, but tried to hold out for an original copy. I settled for the repress , and wasn't disappointed . Soulful, jazzy, and loaded with dope drums . Definitely my kinda record ..

Family Circle - self-titled lp . I picked this on up because I really liked the cover art . I'm glad I did . A lot of great lovers soul on this one !!

Vanilla Fudge - self-titled lp . I actually caught their cover of You Keep Me Hanging On on the radio a few weeks ago .



Those drums were so dope , I had to pick it up!! The rest of the album is cover tracks in the same vein . A pretty good cop . although the cover is beat up , the vinyl sounds great!!

Lonnie Liston Smith - Exotic Mysteries lp . Laid back soulful,jazz . Almost has a smooth jazz feel . But still has that signature cosmic, spacey undertone that LLS carried through the mid to late 70s .

JB that natural essence I believe has a tribe sample or something. I'll have to double check on my copy but I think it's tribe.
