This morning

Ugly Custard - self-titled lp . I picked this up on record store day a few years back , listened to it , and filed it away . But , some unknown force drew me back to it this morning . I'm glad it did . So many elements to this album . A prime example of a great psych album . Funky , bluesy , jazzy , you get some rock , and some dope drum breaks . Excellent way to start the day ..

Excellent find JayBrown.

Some nice sample material in those links.
Alan Parker was an awesome session guitarist who did a lot of work on library labels. And Alan Hawkshaw of the Mohawks...

It came full circle for me yesterday. 4 or 5 years ago I was pretty much your average www.reddit.com/r/vinyl user. I inherited a bunch a vinyl from my mother and bought a new lp every now and again. I was an enthusiast and listened all the time.

But,

Then a producer friend of mine thought that I would like this song and he sent me a copy..

I became infatuated with this song, and with it obscure vinyl.

And I now live in poverty.

The first time that I tried to buy this, a few years ago, it was on discogs for $60. I thought that $60 was a little steep, and in the couple of days that I was thinking about it, it was sold. The second time, it was sold as I was trying to buy it, again on discogs. Another time I was trying to buy from a guy that had a copy. But, when it came time for the transaction he tried to double the price on me.

The copy that I have acquired is a NM test pressing. That has some extra songs that are not on the final production copy. A couple of links, one has psych horror feel with a sitar.

Official release date was 1972. The label on mine dates it to 1970

Side A is covered in cheese. All vocal, some in french.

But side B is fully loaded. All instrumental.

A soft lounge track.
A moody down tempo rock track.
An upbeat funky fuzzed out track.
A dark heavy rocker.
And a dreamy jazzrock track.

Unfortunately I was only home for two days, and I have to wait another week to see it again.

I have never felt more like a 12 year old girl.

^^ nice.

Speaking of records that have been filed away and forgot about. I didn't know where to put this record when I bought it so it ended up shuffled around and next to a bunch of crappy Rock for some reason. As I was moving some records out of my shelves to make space, there it was! This is the only track I can't get enough of, rest of it has a little too much cheese on it for my taste. But this one, I like. (Obviously been covered a hundred other times too.)
