Platinum Pied Pipers - Abundance (Ubiquity) 2009



A sophomore slump of sorts, except some of this is very good. Unlike "Triple P", Dilla wasn't in their corner on this one, so it's definitely an excursion from that chunky Hip Hop beats over soul sound. But they broadened their skills and sound, it's definitely worth multiple listens.



Abstrakt Workshop Vol. 1 Compilation (Shadow Records) 1995



An odd but easy to find and cheap compilation of "trip hop". I never really liked that term but it is what it is. Really interesting early laid back trip hop on this. So many compilations like this got me versed on a lot of artists I never would have even heard about, so this is a great starter set for those who like downtempo jazzy beats.

^Speaking of downtempo, in my eyes these guys are it. Only time I would ever even think of copping a CD Single is if they had their name on it. Top notch chill out tunage.
