This last 4 day 'kend, I scored numerous nice joints...

Velvet Underground & Nico - Scepter Studios Acetate LP (2012 Record Store Day Black Friday Release) (Scepter/Universal) 1966

^On Black Friday, I got outta bed early with my little bro and we left my Ma's house to hit up a record store in Dubuque IA, which was a one hour drive and the closest record store to her house. I gotta say it was definitely worth the trip for the Fat Boys Pizza Box I scored, and this never before mass-released EP of underground Velvet Underground recordings. I'll admit, most of these songs can be found on their albums which are better master recordings vs the raw recordings on this EP. But the rawness factor really grabbed me on this, especially on the track "Waiting For My Man". This isn't essential unless you are a huge VU fan, I'd recommend that newbies to the band should cop the regular albums first.

Rodriguez - Cold Fact LP (Sussex/Light In The Attic) 2010

^FINALLY! My lil bro hooked me up with this for my late birthday present cuz he knew that I loved this guy. For those who haven't already read about this guy check out the in depth breakdown on Vamo's Blog Post. This was one of those albums that never got a proper release until recently, but it was worth the wait for sure. Dennis Coffey and Mike Theodore brought the fuzz guitar and Rodriguez brought the psych\folk\rock\latin lyrics. So many tracks on this are top notch, I really needed to have this, it's something I'll play often for sure.

Gilberto Gil ‎– Refavela LP (Philips) 1977

^A friend of my Dad's passed away a few years ago who apparently was a sort of serious record collector, and somehow my Dad ended up with his stacks of wax. He'd been bugging me to get these off his hands, I finally had time over Thanksgiving to give the collection a proper look over. Turns out he's a connoisseur of Brazillian music, Jazz and Classical. I never would have guessed this old geezer had such good taste in music, because I always thought my parents had corny music taste, but as it turns out I was dead wrong. All the Brazillian records are from Brazil, they still have their price tags on them in Brazillian currency. SCORE! They are all in excellent condition and audiophile sleeves, DOUBLE SCORE! This one in particular is (for lack of a better word) wonderful. I feel very lucky to be able to incorporate records like these into my collection. smiling smiley

Stravinsky and the Columbia Symphony Orchestra ‎– Le Sacre Du Printemps LP (Columbia Masterworks) 1960 LP

^Dude looks PIMP! "I don't drink beer, but if I did I'd drink Dos Equis" type pimp! Now I'm not a classical collector, I have a few that I purchased over the years, maybe only 2 or 3, but due to acquiring this new collection I now have masterworks by innumerable composers like this one, collected by a true collector with true knowledge in what is the really good stuff. I quickly sampled thru a few of his classical pieces and many of them are the kind I really enjoy. None of the corny instruments and major chord visions of "Running thru the fields of wheat" type ish, not too much Italian opera (which I can't stomach), just good, loud orchestra music. This is the perfect stuff for work music or when I'm working on my studio, I feel like it's the kind of music that helps me multitask and really get stuff done. Don't worry, I won't bore you guys with floods of Classical record pics in the future, but this is truly great music and I'm excited to get it.

i got this new ZZ Top album (on sale) on Record Store Day...album produced by Rick Rubin.

it sounds alot like one of The Cult albums that Rick also produced in the late 80's/early 90's...same gritty, bluesy, rock sound...almost as gritty as Billy Gibbons voice, now....LOL
