^That remix was pretty interesting. I'm a fan of both Gangstarr and SP so hearing them mashed up like that is pretty odd. It basically works. I wonder how it would sound with the vox pushed back and someone rhyming over it? Maybe Dalek or someone like that could take a crack at it and remix it even further...

Inanna - Ouvres Completes Tome I-XVI 2xCD

First time reissue of this early 90s death industrial album originally released on cassette only. This is bleak stuff, primitive as hell, but it works. Some drones, the occasional sparse drum machine boom (no dance beats here!), some metal clanging, lo-fi production values and the whole bit. If you've heard anything on the 80s cult label Nekrophile, this gives off a similar vibe. This is a reissue on the Ukranian label Old Captain, limited to just 200 copies.

Interesting footnote: Mikael Stavostrand, the person behind this project, later emerged as a house music producer after doing some glitchy type albums in the early 2000s.

Illusion of Safety - More Violence and Geography LP

First LP (from 1988) from this long running U.S. industrial/experimental group. Definitely one of IOS's harsher efforts, lots of pounding percussion, noise, and creepy samples. Quite different from what was going on in the industrial rock/WaxTrax type scene around the same time, this is much more in line with things like early Nocturnal Emissions or SPK. Although not my favorite IOS album, this is definitely an important historical document of American underground music.

Schloss Tegal - Oranur III - The Third Report LP

Noisy post-industrial ambient.

Clearly there is some TG inspired imagery going on here. I guess you know what you are getting into here. Nightmarish drone soundscapes with some interesting sound sources. "Voices from space, crop circle recordings, sex & orgasms, UFO encounters, abduction experiences, and cattle mutilation" are listed on the back cover as sources. Since this style of dark, layered noisy drones has been done to death in the last 10-15 years, folks might not see the big deal about this record. It's important to keep in mind this came out in 1995. I think this album holds up very well and is much better executed than some of the later projects that tried to do this sort of thing, even if some of the dialogue samples on side 1 are a bit silly.

^Sounds like drone music at least the long intro does.

I like Drone music. But not on a Wednesday morning when I'm feeling like a drone. I need a coffee refill fast. ((needcoffee))
