There was an older Reggae thread on here but it hasn't been active in a little while and I thought I'd make this thread to cover more styles and get the conversation going. Going to keep it broad. Anything from Laurel Aitken to Bob Marley to Augustus Pablo to Capleton to Chronixx and all points in between can go here. You can even post Calypso records or more obscure JA-influenced or derived music styles here. Two-tone ska-revival artists also welcome here.

Madness - One Step Beyond LP

UK Ska from the Two-Tone Revival, first LP by this band. I'm sure we've all heard this at some point or another, but I'm posting it anyway because it's such a great album. Plenty of long instrumental breaks as well, very upbeat/rocking stuff. U.S. Sire copies of this seem to go for $5 or so in the used bins still, and they don't sound bad at all. Worth grabbing if you don't have it.

Wayne Jarrett - What's Wrong With The Youths LP

Listening to this...re-post, but figured it deserves more attention so...

I don't know much about Jarrett, but both this album and another I have by him on the Wackies label are solid. This album was originally released in 1981 on Jah Life Records and was reissued in 2012 by Dub Irator, which IIRC is associated with Deeper Knowledge/Digikiller Records out of New York. My copy is the reissue. Some unfortunate quality issues with the vinyl, but nothing my record weight couldn't mostly fix.

Black Uhuru - Tear It Up (Live) LP

'81 Tour Live from Black Uhuru. Most of the songs are from the second studio LP, which is probably my favorite Black Uhuru album overall. Some of the songs here are a big edgier sounding than the studio versions. Recording quality is pretty good overall for a live reggae LP.

Abyssinians - Arise

1991 - Clinch Records, JA - Reissue - originally released 1978

Classic roots reggae from its heyday. The trio lay down some beautiful harmonies. Sly and Robbie kick in the rhythm.
