Noisem - Agony Defined LP (A389Recordings) 2015 RE of 2013 OG

^Who knew that hot pink and Death Metal / Thrash metal went together? Certainly not this guy. Anyways, since colored vinyl means less than nothing to me I bought it based on this hype sticker and a whim.

^Don't tell the metal marketers that their words swayed me but yeah, I bought that. I'm not so sure about the direct comparison to those other bands but like those other bands their change ups within the same song are instant attention grabbers. These guys are professional as all hell, my jaw hit the floor a few times during my first listen, it is a stunning metal album IMHO and frankly a breath of fresh hell fire air.

Just listen to Split From the Inside Out

^If you like that, that's just a sliver of how good the entire album is. So solid, 9/10.

End The Sun - Rhythm of Defeat
not on label, 2016

I found this randomly searching around Bandcamp one night, gave it a listen and ordered the CD. This is some heavy duty experimental black metal from a one man project out of Augusta, GA. On the link below, check out the third track in particular, "Kilkreath, I'm Melting". There's so much going on in this epic it's taken me several listens to absorb it all.

I'd love to get a look at this dude's equipment to see what he's using to get that twangy edge to the guitar tone. There's a nifty drone piece he's got up as well where he lists the equipment used, and that's more than decent, too. Overall, this is excellent stuff, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from him.

Ape Machine - Live At Freak Valley
Ripple Music, 2015

Straight ahead riff-driven stoner rock recorded live in 2013 at the annual Freak Valley festival held in Germany. These guys pump out chugging, 70s style songs like there's no tomorrow. This LP comes in a nice gatefold with a bonus DVD of the entire performance. Good stuff if you're looking for heavy rock'n'roll that worships at the Church of Sabbath.
