I don't want to sully this thread with what I saw and heard while watching the BET awards....this thread is filled with good Hip-hop...I think I will be taking this to the "vent" thread...

LOL.

Hey hiphopchiq how was that? I didn't peep it or record it, I forgot about it. Was it any good?

...

Manday night...

I got caught up (a little) on my 'new' Hip Hop records...

Pete Rock / Smif-N-Wessun ‎– Monumental LP (Duck Down) 2011

^Uptown was telling me to get this over a year ago when I was visiting his crib, now finally, I found the 2LP at the right price. Glad I copped it for sure, there are a lot of solid tracks on this especially later on in the album. These vets know wassup, they know how to drop a good formula.

Blu & Exile ‎– Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them LP (Dirty Science) 2012

^Such a dope album. Beats are really well laid out by Exile and Blu drops nice chill rhymes. I haven't given it a proper listen, it's one of those albums you don't fully understand on the first peep, but I can already tell it's gonna get multiple listens. A great followup to their stellar below the heavens.

Apollo Brown + OC* - Trophies LP (Mello Music Group) 2012

^Saved the best for last. I REALLY am feeling this. Tight production, plenty of modern boom bap, and OC hasn't lost a step. Interesting collab to say the least, definitely worth copping this on wax.

Heard the "Monumental" album....I was disappointed though it wasn't the best it didn't totally suck. I think Pete Rock is slightly overrated...

Since they finally dropped Big Krit's "K.R.I.T. was here" and "Return of 4eva" on double lp, I had to pick'em up. Along with Rasheed Chappell's "Future before nostalgia". That's 3 of my favorite "recently" released albums albums in one purchase, so I'm happy.

I just pulled out that Rasheed Chappell album again a couple days ago, really solid album through and through, one of the best of 2011 for sure.
