^^^ nice. When I ran into JS-1 over the summer in NYC I mentioned that I still listen to that album actually haha.

Just posted this recently in the recent pick ups thread but I'm pulling it back out for another spin, really nice and crisp sampling on these beats. If you can still find a copy in stock (as opposed to from a discogs seller) I would jump on it, quick.

Recently been bumping some new arrivals...

Blaq Poet - Tha Blaqprint LP (Year Round Incorporated) 2009

^Trying to get all Blaq Poet's and his alias' one by one and this was on sale at Fatbeats so I copped it. Not bad, not awesome either. Uptown you are right you gotta be in a certain mood to bump this, I don't know if I was pissed off enough to listen to the album on Thursday night LOL. Not his worst release (solo, group or alias) I have but not his best either, still I'm glad to get it. I know, I still gotta get onboard the Screwball train with my next Poet purchase. Primo dropped a few standout dope beats on this, but he wasn't at the top of his game either as the primary producer of this album overall. Seems like his production quality is inconsistent some years from time to time. Lately, in the last year or so IMO his productions have gone uphill, or at least the stuff I heard has.

J-Rocc - Tasters Choice 1.3 (Live Version) CD Mixtape and J-Rocc - Tasters Choice disc 6 CD Mixtape (Beat Junkie Sound) Unknown Year of release

^As usual I'm playing catchup with my Beat Junkie catalog, these two add to my collection of J-Roccs Tasters' Choice series mixtapes that I already had... Disc 1, 2, 3, and 5. (looks like I'm missing part 4) I only had a chance to bump the version 6 mix so far but I was, as usual, blown away by the niceness factor. On this mixtape (part 6) J-Rocc spins African themed reggae and African funk vibes in general. If you want to spice up your reggae collection, this one will do that for sure. His track listing inside is nothing more than his shorthand notes, like "That Fela Break" and "That Congos Edit" so you don't really know the actual tracks he's using unless you happen to own the music and can make the connection. Regardless of the exclusive digger nature of the mix, it's very palatable reggae for even newbs to the genre. Very soulful and tribal sounding at the same time. Definitely cop this if you dig J-Rocc tapes, they sell out fast and rarely get reupped. These are currently available right now at Fatbeats and Turntablelab. Tonight is Friday night so you can bet I'll be putting this Tasters Choice 1.3 mix on when I crack my first evening brew tonight. Is it 5 o' clock yet? (looking at watch)

I've been getting in contact with some people to get a hold of some of the harder-to-find Damu The Fudgemunk releases in order to fulfill my inner nerdiness and complete the Damu vinyl collection, I got a good line on a couple of the pricier/limited pieces this week and will be shelling out more than usual for a couple records. In any case, I grabbed this for a quick relisten:
