^^ never really bothered to listen to Jeezy . May have to give him a chance . I too was on a down south ( but on a different level ) kick today . Was bumpin some Utopia State . They were a mid to late 90s group out of Nashville . I'm gonna have to get some of their joints posted up here sometime .

M.E.D. - Classic LP (Stones Throw) Limited 3LP 2011

^I found this for a nice price at a local dealer. It's always been priced at 30+ and I thought it was a little high for a Stones Throw record especially given their definition of what a "Limited Edition" is. But I had a little trade in value so I used it for what I've heard is a great album. I was surprised actually on how great this really is. M.E.D isn't anything spectacular as a rapper or anything, but he flows nicely and lazily over the choice beats on this album. I guess I was expecting more of a "throw back" vibe based on it's title, but it's far from what I expected theme-wise. It's just good modern Hip Hop, nothing classic sounding about it. Madlib dropped some of his best beats I have heard in years on this, I was getting Madlib fatigue from his predictable style of production on umpteen releases a year, and this one reinvigorated me. Madlib did most of the production, Alchemst graced the album with one of the best beats, along with some decent beats from Oh, No, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and Karriem Riggins. Overall this is really a nice cohesive front to back album. This 3LP came with the instrumentals which I'm guessing will be sold separately at some time by PBW so if you see it cheaper on 2LP, cop that. The instrumentals are great to have, but you really don't pay well over 30 bucks just to get em here when Stone Throw I'm guessing will release them later.

^^ bought that when it came out, a bit of stale release in my book. I should revisit that because it might be a little bit of a grower.
