"Go into Options in the Windows Media Player. Go to the Devices tab. Highlight Speakers & click Properties. Check the box for 24 bit audio. Click on Apply and/or OK. You now will have HDCD. "

Yep, WMP works as long as the box is checked.

Early 80s Dead takes a lot of flak from fans. Sometimes it's deserved, sometimes not. This new volume of Dave's Picks is a case of the latter. This was the Dead's one and only show ever played in Idaho, and it's a good one.

Brent Mydland was getting into a groove on the keys by this point, and despite the mountains of coke the band was consuming by this point, this gig is relatively on tempo and in sync.

The sound here isn't exactly what I would call brilliant, but it's very serviceable. I believe that most of this was taken from a reference cassette they were running from the soundboard, but it's obvious at times that an audience tape was used as a matrix filler to close some gaps where the reference copy dropped out. Still an excellent album, and worth tracking down.

A stone cold classic from the Dead's studio catalog right here. From the opening of "Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo" to the album closing epic "Weather Report Suite," there's not a wasted moment.

On top of the fact that this is such a great album, the pressing from Mobile Fidelity in the photo is one of the best they have ever done. Every note has a place in the mix, and the whole album is spacious with a wide open soundstage.

I like the jazzy guitar on the first track you posted. I keep saying this but I need to block out some time to check out some of the Dead's key studio albums and decide what to buy.
