Yea Eye , that is a great track . The whole album is dope .. I wanted to post a video of the whole album for anyone that may not be familiar with it , but couldn't find one . Her (their) whole catalog is great.. I'm really wishing her well , since she got cancer . I hope she pulls through this okay ...
Yo Eye, did you listen to the full Gregory Porter album ? I've been hearing On My Way To Harlem on a local jazz station , and have been curious about the rest of the album .

Such a good track !!

Yeah, Eye feel you on the Miss Jones sentiment....hope she makes a full recovery.

The whole Greg Porter album was enjoyable....varied styles, shows a broad range of talent... I'm a big Lambert, Hendricks & Ross fan so, his joint "Bling Bling" is a fav...

In rotation over the last couple of days....

Kissey Asplund - Plethora

She was kinda slept on....Eye thought this was a solid effort.

José James - No Beginning No End

José James - Park Bench People/ Visions Of Violet

Interesting hearing a Jazz vocalist cover Freestyle Fellowship....first heard a live version of this cat doing that tune....wish Eye had that recorded.

Roy Hargrove & The RH Factor - Hard Groove

^Nice stuff Eye. thumbs up BTW, If anyone wants that RH factor on wax, it's not a cheap record, but it's a damn good one and if you need it Wade has a copy of it here.

Recently…

Yo La Tengo – Fade LP (Matador) 2013

^Prism style gloss that changes according to light.

^Aim it at the light to see the tracklisting.

^^I got this yesterday. To be honest, I'm a bit of a Yo La Tengo newb myself. I have a few of their songs here and there but this is my first LP of theirs. I had a feeling it would be good, but that doesn't do it justice, I highly underestimated how good this would be. Cool packaging, clearly. The bonus 7" has remakes on both A and B sides. An 11 minute bonus song is included on the DL card if that wasn't enough music for you. This is very chill and ambient toned rock n roll, it's almost Dream Pop chilled. This would go good on a mixtape with Sugar Plant, Kings of Convenience, Makestapes or with some Koshik's 45s. I highly recommend this to the fans of loungy, laid-back modern rock.

Nick Decaro – Italian Graffiti LP (Blue Thumb Records) 1974

^I bought this because Dusty Groove said… “Our Favorite Record Ever”. I’m not sure who wrote that review but that’s a mighty bold statement considering how many records come out of that place every day. I tried buying it a few times and it always sold before I could nab it, so I assumed it was in high demand. Truthfully, I liked the goofy cover but other than that I had no idea what I’d be getting. I was surprised by the laid back loungy vocal style that it actually is. Reminds me of Hall & Oat’s best 80s hits. It’s a very cool record and it’s laced with feel good vibes. It’s far from the best record that ever came out of DGA, but I can see why it would definitely be one of their favorites to put on in the store.

Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro – Mountain Mocha Kilimanjaro LP (Jazzman) 2009

^Lately I’ve been on a Jazzman records kick, trying to snag up as much of their stuff as I can. Often it’s pretty tough on the wallet since they are an import label but even so it’s been well worth it. This one is no exception to their high standards. File this under Funky Japanese club jazz. From the first song to the last this reminds me of a lost JBs album. UBER FUNKY drumming, funk is the essence of this. I can’t find one thing wrong about this, it’s just plain funky.

The Greg Foat Group – Girl and a Robot With Flowers 10” (Jazzman) 2012

^Never heard of this guy, but who cares, it’s on Jazzman so it’s gotta be good. Well that’s true again, it’s damn good. This one is more along the lines of Menahan Street Band slower more moody funk music. They even rock the accordion on this. I started with this cheaper 10” thinking if I liked this then I could buy their album. Looks like I’ll be buying their album.

Misfits – Die, Die My Darling 12” (Plan 9) 1984

^As a punk fan, why wouldn’t I have this? There’s no good reason I shouldn’t, shit’s staple.

Nine Inch Nails – Hesitation Marks LP (Nothing) 2013

^Trents best album since Downward Spiral. This is so moody, so microproduced and yet so cohesive sounding, it’s spectacular. I’d put this in the list of best rock albums in 2013. It’ll be a while before I get sick of this thick sounding album, that’s for sure.

Pantera – Far Beyond Driven LP (Rhino) OG 1994 RE 2010

^NICE! Very heavy double LP from the good people at Rhino records. This recent reissue used the banned cover that was never on the original release. On the inside is the original cover so this gatefold is actually reversible if you prefer the blue cover everyone knows. This is definitely one of Pantera’s hardest ever albums and it’s so classic in my book. I can name about every song and sing every lyric. Before I met my wife, I broke up with my previous girlfriend and this album helped me say “fuck the world” when the world was fucked. It’s angst put mine to shame so it has a special place in my heart. I only have one more album of theirs to get on wax and then I finally have them all, just need “Cowboy’s From Hell” and my Pantera completionism will be fulfilled.
