My recent scores ...

Lee Fields - Emma Jean lp . When I first read the description of this album , it said that it had a country feel . That left me wondering about it . Now that I've listened , I can definitely hear some country influence, along with rock and disco . None of which are a bad thing . This album is pretty laid back . It still has the funky/soulful sound that I always loved from Lee Fields , but just has a new spin on it . A nice listen . Its pressed on translucent red vinyl too !!
Speaking of country.....

Country Funk Vol. 2 1967- 1974 2lp . Another dope Light In The Attic joint . I took a chance on volume 1 a while back , not sure what I was getting into . But , I was pleasantly surprised . After hearing volume 2 , I hope this series continues !!! This album is everything that I think DJ Boombap had in mind when he started the funky country thread . You kinda forget sometimes how dope some of the country music back in the day was . Some of the tracks on here sit so well with a lot of my favorite soul and funk joints . Not to mention the crazy breaks that you don't expect from country music . I am very impressed with this ....
A little reggae in the mix ....

The Abyssinians - Arise lp . I went to the flea market last weekend ,spent almost 8 hours there , and all I brought home was this album ... And it was still a great shopping experience !!! This is my first Abyssinians album on vinyl , but I have been listening to their first album Satta Massagana for a long time on cd .I was very curious how this album would stand up , but was happy to find out that it holds it's ground well . A nice roots reggae sound with some nice funky undertones . There is also a dope sampleable or two ...
Last but not least , a few for the romantics ...

Sven Libaek - The Set sountrack lp . Decided to take a chance on this one , and wasn't disappointed . When I read a description , I expected heavy breaks , but it wasn't there . There are a few dope breaks , but it's not as loaded as I expected , so if you cop this with that in mind , you may be let down . As for me though, I thought this album was a great listen . Very laid back and jazzy .

Got A Girl ( Dan the Automator & Mary Elizabeth Winstead ) - I love You But I Must Drive Off This Cliff Now lp . This is another one that I had no idea what to expect when I copped it . Dan The Automator was a no brainer for me . I've always liked this dude . Mary Elizabeth Winstead , I saw her in Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World , and that was about it . But it had me curious , so I bit .... Not a bad album at all . Pretty laid back . Could almost pass for a back in the day Italian soundtrack ( but all sung in English btw ) . Mary Elizabeth Winstead passes very well for a seasoned artist . There are also a few points that are reminiscent of Portishead 's Dummy album . This album probably isn't for everybody , but I endorse it ...

Cool stuff JB. Is that Dan the Automator like his Lovage project? That's the vibe I'm getting from the cover, and if so I'm all over that. I wish Lovage was cheaper, I keep looking for that and it's always an arm and a leg.
