I must admit, that Gotye stuff often makes me wanna scratch my ear drums out when I walk into a store/coffeeshop/etc...whatever keeps your head noddin' tho.

Neneh Cherry and the Thing - The Cherry Thing LP (Smalltown Supersound) 2012

^Finally copped this. Nenah is a long long way from her Buffalo Stance days on this Norwegian Import. She must have spent a lot of time peeping her dad Don Cherry's old jazz records before making this with Jazz Thing, because this is a completely different beast. She naturally falls into this roll and her vocal range has clearly matured. This one is very improvisational sounding, very free-form jazz and her vocals adapted nicely to that sound. She covers a Madlib song "Accordion", one of the best tracks on the record. This would go nicely with Cassandra Willson, Erykah Badu, and a few other Jazzy-Soul divas I can't think of right now.

^One of the kings of Italo Disco\Synth Pop scene in the early 80s. This guys beats were SO advanced for their time, many Hip Hop and Techno musicians sampled this guys tracks since they were so heavy sounding. Great repress on the left just arrived in time for the weekend, and it's a heavy pressing, and a must-have 80s synth album IMO. He's one of those artists that I'll cop anything with his name on it. On the right is one of Sire's best Disco EPs by far. Aside from Robotinik classic "Problèmes D'Amour" the other songs on this are huge sounding disco pop that'd make anyone dance. Great synth on both of these if you are need of an 80s pop fix.
