How is that Country Funk? I have been seriously looking at that.

Last night...

Various - Achtung Chicago! LP (Underdog Records) 1990

^Dope punk comp from Chi Town. Obscure but tight niceness on this.

Aphex Twin - Windowlicker EP (Warp Records) 1999

^The most disturbing pic cover in my collection. But completely normal for Richard D James, this is his kind of egomaniacal imagery on all his albums. As far as the music goes, not surprisingly, this EP, like all this guys audio pieces, is pure electronic genius.

^Ha! I know, right? I showed that pic cover to my 4th grader son and he turned blue in the face. I had to explain photoshop to the scarred kid to prevent nightmares.

Playing catch up after a busy ass week last week. Looks like this week will be more insanity.((needcoffee))

Recently...

Various - Untinted LP (Original Songs of Madlib's Shade's of Blue) (Blue Note) 2003

^I busted this out a few days ago cuz I basically forgot about it and forgot how perfect these original jazz songs were that Madlib picked for his remix album. He had unprecedented access to the Blue Note vaults and he ended up dropping his best productions to date. (<IMO of course).

Can - Rite Time LP (Mercury) 1989

^Speaking of scary cover art. For those unaware of Kraut Rock pioneers Can, they too, are in far left-field for a lot of their rock albums. But I like that shit. Normal is so boring, everyone knows that. They are not normal, and always have talented backing musicians doing odd key shifts, almost jazz-like changes in each song. You definitely gotta be in the "right kind of mood" for this though.

Cabaret Voltaire - Drinking Gasoline LP (Virgin) 1985

^The third album I copped from this art rock group. On this 1985 album they abandoned their earlier dark soundscapes and metallic random drums sounds in favor of the emerging industrial movement. Some of this is downright techno-ish but still has enough rock elements to put in my rock section. Cool stuff, but again, you gotta be in the right mood to put this on.
