Short Eyes is without a doubt my favorite Curtis Mayfield record (and, having said that, one of my favorite ever).

^^^ none of those things would be in my "normal listening" patterns but all of it sounds interesting if not down-right dope (though I can't envision my ever taking a liking to Megadeath lol, I should check it out first though!). That psych comp. sounds like something worth keeping eyes out for too.

It's been a while since I pulled this one out. Man, this dude is so talented at really (re)constructing a SOUND.

^^ gonna have to peep those later on.

I like that Adrian Younge record, BK-One told me online that he and his band invented a new keyboard designed to sound like an organ recorded to vinyl specifically for this record and tour...lol, crazy.

I listened to this Bobby Hutcherson record earlier this morning, that Van Gelder stamp is crucial.

^Nice ones..

....Lately...(Playing Ketchup)

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols LP (Virgin) 1977

^I understand the importance of this album. I know what it's all about and why it caused such a stir back then. I also know that it's tough to listen to. I like the band, but quite frankly, Sid's voice wears thin on me in by the time it gets to the middle of side A. I imagine it's the same way some people feel about Bob Dylan when they say they "like what he did, just not his voice" and that's the end of it. You can't make someone like a singers voice, you either do or you don't. You either appreciate it for what it is or don't. I appreciate this for what it is, but I can't hardly bear an entire album of his voice. Seriously, this is the strongest British accent ever, it grinds on my very soul. It's even stronger then the God-awful Oasis singer, even stronger than horrible Coldplay singer, so yeah he's just not cutting it for me. One of those records that I have because I'm supposed to have because I'm trying to broaden my Punk music horizons and somewhere along the line someone said that it's a must have punk album. Maybe so, but without a doubt it's easily the worst punk record I own.

Primus - Frizzle Fry LP (Prawn Song) 1990 (2003 Reissue) and 7 Seconds - Walk Together, Rock Together LP (BYO) 1986

^Another classic Primus album, this repress I'm not too thrilled with. Apparently remastered and on thick 180 gram pressing but it's an oddly quiet pressing. I really had to turn up the gain to hear it loud. The music is good, the remaster is quiet, but whatever. On the right a later release from the punk band 7 seconds. I wish it was their earlier rawer ish, but it still has a few cool punk remakes, including 99 loft balloons. We were just talking about the dark undertones of that song, weird. Cool version though.

Flaming Lips - Hit To Death In The Future Head LP (Warner Brothers) 1992

^Stupid album cover of a polka dotted toilet, but whatever. I gotta get all their albums, so here's another one I had to have. This one's ok, but it's my least favorite so far out of all the ones I collected so far. Despite that, it's still a lot better then your typical rock album. Not nearly as psychedelic sounding as I like them to be but still pretty cool.

Kingstonians - Sufferer LP (Attack Records) 1970

^Massive roots from the mighty Kingstonians. File under good roots music with a touch of dub.

Charles Mingus - Cumbia & Jazz Fusion LP (Atlantic) 1978

^Fusion mastered. Mingus is no stranger to experimentation and when Jazz Fusion started to burn he was already ahead of the game. Ever evolving sounds on this album, finding the start times and stop times by ear is a chore, it's meant to be heard all the way through. I spotted a few Orb samples on this.
