Ted Taylor - Taylor Made LP



Can't remember if I posted this before in another thread or not. This is a record I bought by reputation alone, as it was sold as sealed new old stock at a local record store when I got it. I probably have not given it enough time on the turntable, because I'm enjoying it a lot more now compared to the last time I put it on.

Terry Huff & Special Delivery - The Lonely One




The cover of this album might make you think this is something like Terry Callier or Bill Withers, where the guitar is featured prominently, but it's not that at all. What we have is here, is mellow, smooth, string-laden 70s soul. Nothing wrong with that, and the strings don't cross over into overbearing territory. There are some great vocals and backing harmonies as well. One track, "Poochee", is a bit too syrupy and overblown for my taste, but other than that, this LP is great.
