Mundell Lowe - Guitar Moods LP (Riverside Records) 1960

Another one to add to the wishlist. Surprised Analog Productions never reissued that one. Not gonna happen now with the new leadership @ Concord Music Group which owns the rights to all the Riverside stuff. Re: quality of those old Riverside pressings, in my limited experience they're about on par with old Prestige pressings. Like Prestige, they used some recycled vinyl which means sometimes you get a noisy pressing. Many lesser known gems in their catalog too.

Flautist and composer Nicole Mitchell gets pretty far out and weird with an amazing take on free jazz and world fusion on this record. It's hard to put into exact words everything that's going on here, but it's all fantastic.
