I have to admit that I'm not too familiar with this band's work outside of their big hit on the Top Gun soundtrack. This sounds much different and way more interesting. I'm definitely picking up some Kraftwerk and Moroder vibes there.

Easterhouse - Contenders LP

One of those albums I've had in my collection for a few years that never quite gelled with me until recently. Not sure if it's changes I've made to my system or what, but I really enjoyed this when I last put it on. Anyway, this band were an 80s outfit from Scotland playing post-punk flavored guitar pop with a strong communist political leaning in the lyrics. Most people have probably only heard of them today due to the connection with the Smiths - they gigged together and at one point the guitarist of this band was considered as a replacement for Johnny Marr. They don't sound too much like the Smiths though.

This is a good album but it's held back somewhat by the murky production because the vocals are pushed back a bit in the mix. If you can get past that (maybe try some EQ/tone control adjustment if you need to), it's a very good album well worth seeking out that's not very expensive. After this album the group became an entirely different band with only one original member before recording their second LP.
