Vasectomy Party / Su Sous Toulouse En Rouge - 7" Split
Forever Escaping Boredom, 2016

Two Florida noise outfits sharing a lathe-cut 7". Both of them have been around for some time, playing local shows in the Tampa area and putting out a pretty good number of releases. This split has one track from each and, despite the fact it's lathe-cut, the sound is very good.

Below is a video of Vasectomy Party playing at a coffeehouse type place in St. Pete.

Forever Escaping Boredom is a local label here in SW Florida that puts out a massive amount of fringe stuff that's worth checking out.

Never heard of the label or these artists. Looks like they are carrying on the tradition of the 90s noise/experimental scene.

The New Blockaders - Simphonie in X Major

Discogs Page

Originally released in 1991 on LP, this is the 20th anniversary cassette reissue from a few years ago. TNB were one of the originators of the noise scene and while I don't find all their recordings compelling this is probably one of the best representations of them that you can get. The sound is harsh, but there is a great deal of texture from various scrapes and clangs, which makes this far more interesting than a lot of the "harsh noise wall" stuff that has taken over the noise scene over the five years or so.

Choi Joonyong, Kevin Drumm, Hong Chulki - Normal
Balloon & Needle, 2015

So this CD was given to me a few weeks ago with the explanation of "It's some pretty weird shit. I think you'll like it." That turned out to be an accurate statement.

I was familiar with Kevin Drumm, known primarily for doing peculiar things with tabletop guitars, but Joonyong and Chulki were new names to me. It turns out they run the Balloon & Needle label out of South Korea.I wish I could find a video or sound clip from this album to post, but I didn't run across any. This is glitchy weird electronic noise that can get pretty harsh at times, especially at high volume. The five untitled tracks build one abstract sound on top of another. Really great experimental stuff, well worth tracking down if you're into this sort of thing. I would place it somewhere in the same ballpark as Aaron Dilloway.

The disc came in this funky, origami-like sleeve. There's actually text printed on the inside of it, but I unfolded it once and had a hell of a time getting it back the way it was, so I didn't bother doing it again to get a photo.

Balloon & Needle website ...Website is in Korean.

Here's a video of a performance by Choi and Hong involving a turntable, some ping-pong balls and a bunch of electronics. This sounds nothing like this album, but it is kind of funny.

Kevin Drumm has done some amazing albums. He's very prolific though and it's tough to keep up with everything he's doing. I have to come back and check out that clip later, never heard of either of these other artists.
