Borbetomagus
Agaric Records, 1980

This was the first album released by these legends of the New York noise scene. This is some truly bizarre experimental music here. These early recordings by the group had Brian Doherty on electronics, adding to the already freakish noise that Jim Sauter, Don Dietrich, and Donald Miller were creating with two saxophones and a disturbingly loud, feedback driven guitar.

I thought the hype sticker on the front cover was hilarious, so I never tried to remove it.

Alan Licht - Sink The Aging Process
Stillbreeze, 1994

Experimental solo guitar noise, similar to the music of Donald Miller (Bobetomagus). There are two tracks on this album, one of them being a cover of the Minutemen's classic song Polarity stretched out to almost 20 minutes of wild feedback and dissonant, minimalist drones.

You can find this LP fairly cheap these days. It's worth grabbing a copy if you're a fan of this type of music.

Nice pick. I'm not very familiar with Licht, need to check out his work more. I only have a collaboration LP he did with Loren Mazzacane Connors, another artist I need to explore in depth at some point.

Portion Control ‎– Simulate Sensual LP (In Phase Records) 1984

^Last night I bumped this extremely interesting compilation that gathers some of this enigmatic band's best tracks. One could mix this with Einsturzende but it's not at all as harsh sounding. It's more electro and distorted synth sounding with sparse vocals. Dark industrial cinematic electronic music, very experimental but not so far left that it's not enjoyable. Some of the songs are quite advanced sounding for their age. I don't know many artists who were making anything like this back then so I'd add this is innovative and unique as well.
