Prokofiev - Peter and the Wolf LP



Found this for $3 sealed in a "rock" store's small classical section. Had to grab it but I just saw the composer's name (who I like) and the rest of the cover didn't register in my brain. When I put it on I hear this guy narrating in very dramatic French. I'll have to get my SO to translate this for me at some point. I could just look up the English translation but it's more fun to hear it in real time.

Chopin - 24 Preludes - Stefan Askenase LP

Picked this up with some other classical LPs on the cheap. There are some ticks and pops on this one, but the recording is very nice, even though I believe it is some kind of fake stereo. Sounding better after two go-rounds on the RCM.

Mozart - Symphonies 40 & 41 - Karl Bohm LP







Picked this up semi-recently in the budget used classical section of a local store. Intense stuff. I like this more than most Mozart I've heard or have in my collection.

George Winston - December
Windham Hill, 1982



I know it's technically considered New Age and not classical, but I think this album fits here.

I came home after a long day at the office and just needed something to chill out with. This album fits the bill perfectly. Beautiful solo piano with hints of everything from the post-bop era of Vince Guaraldi to JS Bach.

Nothing more to say about this, really. Just nice calm music suitable for the season.

^I saw George Winston play live once and it was a very cool small venue concert. It was a formal affair, everyone was dressed in suit and ties and he came out in a pair of knee cut jeans and a flannel and wooed the audience without batting an eye.
