Captain Beyond - S/T

One of my favorite hard rock albums from the 70s. This band was made up of ex-members of Iron Butterfly and Deep Purple, but were a bit different than either. Some of the riffs are heavy as hell, but there is some psychedelia and moodiness going on also. I've been looking for a nice LP copy of this album for awhile but every time I come across it in the wild, it's trashed. I think this CD sounds pretty good though, and you can pick it up for around $5 new. There are some sketchy vinyl releases of live/archival material, definitely avoid those.

I have my older brother's original copy of this that he gave me when he went off to college. It's still in pretty decent shape, just reeks of hash even after all these years.

Hilarious. I suppose that's to be expected with an album like this!

Swiss prog/art/death/black metal that I picked up as a completely blind buy a couple of weeks ago, and holy shit! This thing is great! A three-CD epic monster set, at times I would swear I was listening to the best Celtic Frost album they never recorded. The drums, even though they are definitely triggered, are just bone shaking at the proper (LOUD) volume. It's not all blastbeats and tremolo picking though. The second disc in particular has some excellent moments of flowing melody and clean singing. I understand these dudes have couple more albums that I haven't heard yet. I'll be checking those out ASAP after hearing this.

That clip sounded pretty good. I'll have to check this one out more carefully.
