Whoa, Season to Risk, haven't thought about them in years. I first heard of them through a split 7'' they did with Starkweather. At any rate, I wouldn't call Season to Risk grunge at all, more like noise rock. Their first two albums are worth getting and can be picked up for next to nothing on CD.

Re: the Tool reissues on vinyl, the ones for Opiate, Undertow, and Lateralus that are floating around mainstream outlets are legit, but pretty low budget. I have the Undertow reissue and while my copy sounds acceptable, I just as soon reach for the CD. Lateralus is a shitty pic disc set unfortunately.

^I think there's a foreign vinyl bootleg of Undertow and Lat that is going around too. Cuz that's what I heard and over priced and sub par doesn't even begin to describe it.

^That wouldn't surprise me. I've seen a really cheaply done boot of 10,000 days at a local store. My copy of Undertow is legit but cheaply done. Pressed at United, cheap flimsy non-gatefold jacket for 2 LPs, no insert, etc.

Wo Fat - Midnight Cometh LP



Big, driving riffs are the order of the day here for the mighty Wo Fat, but this is so much better than most of what gets passed off as stoner rock today. There are lots of inventive sounds to be heard here in addition to the mountains of fuzzed-out guitar.These guys are masters of hooking the listener in with the heavy stuff, then abruptly switching tempos and morphing the song into something else entirely.

Wo Fat are also a spectacular live band, well worth checking out if they're ever in your neighborhood.

Melvins - Ozma / Bullhead Double Album 2LP (Boner Records) 2010 RE



^Nice double LP double album on remastered heavy vinyl. Unfortunately, this is about the only reasonably priced way to get their older albums in great shape as they have been out of print for about 15 years. You can still find original pressings of these but the prices have skyrocketed, hopefully to be retamed by these resent reissues.

For those who don't know they have a signature slowcore \ sludge metal sound that is all their own.
