^Snakefinger made some truly far out records. Phil Lithman was one of those avant garde geniuses that was way ahead of his time.

What else can you recommend from him? I'm interested in checking out other albums.

His early stuff with Chilli Willi and the Red Hot Peppers is pretty cool, but not at weird as he would get in a few years. Personally, I think the records are overpriced these days for the quality of the music, but that's just my personal taste, and they are fairly hard to come by here in the States. If you find one cheap, though, you may want to pick it up.

Absolutely any of the Snakefinger albums themselves are worth picking up. His first LP on Ralph Chewing Hides The Sound has some great songs. Check out the title track below. Kind of like a lounge lizard Zappa vibe.

The Man In The Dark Sedan 7" is another one worth looking for. This is a cool synth-pop-like song that gets twisted up in good way. Ralph made the video for it, and I swear I actually remember seeing it on Friday Night Videos once back in the early 80s.

He also played with Club Foot Orchestra on the Wild Beasts album, put out by Ralph. This is just a badass album. You could likely find some cool stuff to sample on tracks like this one...

and check out how many time changes there are in this song...

And his work with The Residents is worth mentioning, too. Still though, I would pick up any one of the solo Snakefinger albums if you could find them for an even halfway decent price. They're the kind of stuff that grows on you over time and rewards repeated listens.

^Quality information man, thanks for that! I had no idea he was affiliated with RHCP. I knew his albums were unusually expensive but I got lucky and paid under 10 for my copy. I'll have to keep an eye out for his first for sure. thumbs up

Static/Voice/Static - Hentai&Cookies&Milk&Christmas
not on label, 2016

Some droning noise from Oregon. Notice that the name is misspelled as "Vocie" on the J-card.

This is pretty decent stuff, low-key and oddly relaxing. Think New Age on acid and you're getting the picture. There's a ton of releases from this outfit, with all the physical stuff being pretty limited. This particular tape is number 3 of 4, with each one having different artwork.

Seaweed - Weak

One of my favorite albums of the first half of the 90s, these guys get lumped in with "grunge" but weren't really that at all. Basically, it's a high energy, punky form of indie rock, sort of like the PNW's take on early Superchunk without sounding like them. I've listened to this album so many times over the years and it never gets old.
