Recently picked up a 3 x 7" reissue of singles from Lenis Guess. I had never heard of this dude but he got some strong material.
Working for my baby:
Why'd she leave me
Also got this super funky 45:
Tim, Gary & Romeo - 777/Sex Machine
These dudes turned out to be the Soul Surfers (which I mentioned not so long ago) under an alias.

^^It was around 6 or 7 minutes long. It didn't sound like an online mix, but something that would've gotten a physical release. Besides the online mixing game wasn't that big back in the early 00's. It was pretty uptempo with a pretty heavy base. It was entirely based on the champ loop with vocal samples added on top. Don't remember any other samples than the ones I menti

^^I checked out that L'orange & Stik Figa album. Sounds really good, gonna have to cop that. Thanx for the heads up.
Recently picked up this double cd (not sure it was released on wax)
Sean price & M-Phazes - Land of the crooks/Guilty Simpson & Small Professor - Highway robbery
Both sides are decent efforts with playback value. A bit disapointed though that the

Thanx for the help guys. It is not Lesson 4. The one I'm looking for only had the champ sample throughout. It wasn't a mix with several different songs. Maybe one day...

Today it's a stellar classic: Syl Johnson - Dresses too short LP.

That's right, no audio!
Back in 2002 or 2003 I heard a roughly 7 minute long track that was based on the famous "champ" break by the mohawks.I loved it and had an mp3 of it but then it got lost and I forgot all about it. I recently remebered its existance again but I never found out who had done it.
There were no vocals, just a coldcut type track with the champ sample loopin

Picked up three very nice 7"s from the Soul Surfers. They might officially be the best thing to come out of Russia since vodka. Don't sleep!

Went back to this final album by the Jungle Brothers from 2006:
This is actually a decent album. If you're expecting the traditional jb-sound you'll be disappointed. It's a solid mixture of dancable funk-pop beats and if you take it for what it is, it's a good listen.

Well I did what I said I was gonna do so I got me a copy of Mustafa Özkent - Genclik Ile Elele. Fantastic!
Also pulled out this gem. Not a big Ike & Tina fan but this Ike lp is FUNKY!

Since you got that Smokin jams comp you migth also need these:
Both got one or two cuts that aren't available anywhere else, inluding a live rap on sex by Spoonie Gee.
Also these two comp shave some really good live material. The first one is more mixed including both mid school and old school era recordings like the Moe vs Busy bee battle while the other cantains material from

^^Just checked that Mustafa Özkent album. Damn! That was some funky stuff. I was recently on a trip to Turkey and was hoping to find some nice stuff just like that but found nothing close to it. Will need to pick this one up shortly.
Recently picked up a comp by Professor Earl Lett, some really nice old school funk on here.

^^The Lovebug Starski joitn has one of the best baselines from that era. One of my favorite disco rap joints!
Finally copped an affordable copy of this late effort from the crash crew which makes for one of their best releases.
Otherwise some random stuff:

I thought the second BEP album had a couple of decent tracks. Never liked the first one.
I guess my guilty pleasure is this one...

Cool collection, had no idea he had released that many records. Not a jazz head to begin with so can't say I've heard much of his work, but I'll give those mixes a shot.

Couldn't remeber a thread like this so here we are. There are plenty of bad record covers, we all know that. There are/were pages and blogs dedicated to this very topic. But which ones do you have as an eyesore in your collection? Just drop anything you think is really weird, funny or just plain bad. No disrespect towards the artists intended. Here are some of mine:
Biz markie - Weekend

Some random nice stuff:
Lee Fields - Fought for survival
The intro must've been sampled, it sounds familiar. Something by Diamond D maybe? Headbanging funk!
Barrington Levy - Robbin Hood
Winston Hussey - Fight war again
Banbarra - Shackup
Finally picked up the 12" reissue of this. The song is just as funky as the famous break.

The Godfather has many fine holliday tunes. He released 3 x-mas lp's plus a couple singles. He must've loved the hollidays more than the average man.

I think quite a few albums from the mid 80's at that time had beats so good any average mc would've made some noise with it, e.g. the debut albums of Schoolly D, Fat Boys & Mantronix.
After that some personal favorites when it comes to quality beats throughout:
Empd - Strictly Business
Black Moon - Enta da stage
GZA - Liquid Swords
Ghostface Killah - More fish

Jungle Brothers – J. Beez Wit The Remedy LP (Warner Bros) 1993
^One of my favorite JBs albums and it's slept on big time. This one is so raw, I just love how "thown together" this sounds. A few tracks are staple joints, but a lot of it is just weird, and that's definitely my steeze.
I belong to the majority that don't really enjoy that album. The

The track is nice but I would've perfered halfs as many mc's with twice as long verses. Nice closing verse by Tech.

Lady of rage!
Psalm One
Pebble Poo had perhaps the most fierce delivery of any female mc. Too bad she only did one solo cut
She still got it though:

Tough one indeed, but I gotta say "Strictly Business". No matter how many times I hear it, it still sounds as good as on the first listen.

Not been the biggest Clipse fan either but this sounds really nice. I will be picking this up and checking more of his earlier solo material. Thanks for the ehads up on this, I probably woouldn't have checked it otherwise.
Also, agree with Jay on Lamar...

I feel you....after the 'Xodus album...:wasn't anything to follow up for like 10 years....but, still didn't (studio) come out with anything too exciting.
BUT.....
....Brother J did rock a solo/different group-effort (in '96) - Dark Sun Riders. It was/still is pretty official, to me....dope album. It really came out under the radar, at that time....n

Been going through another batch of albums I haven't listened to in a long time.
First up Supreme Nyborn - Style
The album is ok, no classic but a good listen. Might play it more often in the future.
X-Clan - Mainstream Outlaws
The joint above is one in few really nice songs on this album. Their worst album by far if you ask me and it's a shame cause their comeback

Went for legend but past his prime. I still remember how disappointed I was picking up "Sneak attack", which for me at the time symbolized just that very thing, he was past his prime . He has had a way to keep himself relevant for longer than most and always diserves respect.

^^I still dig that Cool Kids album. It has its moments. "88" is one of my favorite tracks from that year. Can't remember the title but the opening track was pretty good too, it had the entire beat made from the words "base", "tick" and "clap". Genius. It's not a solid album all the way throught though, I'll give you that.
