Had the pleasure of seing Wu Tang live last night and they ripped it in front of 17 000 on their 20th anniversary tour. All og members except Meth. Great show and great crowd. They even gave the dj a time to shine:

^I don't know if I got a shady press of this or what but the first 4 songs on side one sound like absolute ass. I had to put in on both decks to make sure there wasn't something wrong with my needle. Turns out theres no bass and it's tinny sounding. I hate having to tuch my EQ, I never do to hear the true sound of the record, but this one is so bad I have to crank t

^^Pretty nice band there Jay. Quality retro bands have really been popping up over the last 10 years.
Today is Africa day. Travelling west to east I start off in Ghana with this dope split 12":
Oscar Sulley - Bukom Mashie/Ogyatanaa Show Band - Disco Africa
Moving on to Nigeria and a reissue of this fantastic album:

With the MJ Girls classic, gotta put a few other pairings ahead of the Nice & Smooth one.....
...for me, it would be Big Daddy Kane's Smooth Operator but, Eye would also put LL's Around The Way Girl and Redman's Tonight's Da Night ahead of that as well.
Disagree on LL,

Just some random stuff today:

Also found a copy of The Playgirls - Gangsta Bitch/Never ran never will/Equal to none 12". This is the last record Sparky D did that I know of (1993). Never ran never will is also probably the best song in her catalogue if you ask me. The acapella was on her 1988 lp but this has her doing it over funky drummer. This song finally

I checked out the Yeezus album too, but only by snippets like Uptown. I get the feeling it's a bit uneven. A couple of the songs soundes alright but some weren't my cup of tea. The best thing about it is someone finally sampled one of my favorite classic rock songs. Apparantly this was huge in the early 70's in most communist countries. Been trying to find the 7" of this for l

On second thought...maybe it was the word "Haile"...nevermind...it's too vague. I'll keep hearing it in my head 'till that beautiful day when it once appears before me.

Honestly I don't really expect anyone to get it from that description. I know it's vague, but that's as elaborate as I can be unfortunately. I figuered it doesn't hurt to ask. My kids were running around and the system was a bit too loud, so I didn't get any more lyrics.

This is probably the first time in quite a few years I've managed to put myself in the type predicament we all hate. I heard a great song and have absolutely no idea what it is. So since this site is called cratedigging.co, y'all need to help me by digging through your reggae crates!
Anyway, I was out yesterday at a local festival and there was a dj who played a lot of nice roots reg

^^Yes! "The crossing" is great and agree that it's even better than their debut. Been playing it on and off since I picked it up.
Picked up two 7" recently; an unofficial reissue of Johnny Harris - Stepping stones/footsteps on the moon. Stepping stones has been playing in my mind for years but I've never seen an offordable o.g. so I went with this reissue to get the so

Quoterchecka ^I think it was GMM that mentioned this was a great album if I'm not mistaken, and I finally found it at a nice price still sealed. I was worried as it had kind of a boring into to it but progressively this album got better and better with each track. If it was you G, good recommendation, it's definitely a quality conscious-style album.

Recently picked up a new effort from Whipper Whip & Charlie Chase:
It's alright. Whip doesn't bring anything new to the table. The beats are good quality b-boy drums. The b-side "Respect" is the better one.
Also been on a mission to decipher some Brother J metaphors so I'm bumping the Dark Sun Riders album along with their selftitled 12".

Well since I got called out...I basically don't read blogs nowadays for share lack of time. There were a few I was checking on a regular basis a few years back but I can't even remeber. I recognize a few of those mentioned though.

The Kiiiiiiiiiiid Capri. You know he's gonna drop a lot of classics, mess'em up in a good way and definately rock the party. The sad thing is though, nobody in my familly or among my closest friends enjoy the music I do, so he'd have his work cut out for him...

Indeed wise words from you BM!
A Hitler mustache looks like a bit of a hassle to maintain. Since this is a venting thread I'll just add that I hate shaving! I didn't shave for about 2 months not too long ago. My boss jokingly asked me if I was turning into a taliban (she's allright though so I don't mind that comment). I might stop all together now to get them on edge. My w

^^I didn't get accused of the actual burglary, I just looked suspicious 12 hours after it happened (as if a burglar would stay in a building full of people for a whole work day and the walk out the front door - wtf?). I might do that ski-mask thing though! They always look a bit nervous once my beard starts getting longer. I find it easier to laugh this one off for share stupidity than to ge

It's been a while since I last vented something on here but now it's definately time.
Last week my workplace was burgled. They stole some laptops and phones, nothing major. I personally couldn't give a damn, I basically wish they had stolen my laptop too so I could get a few hours of payed lazyness in. Anyway, on the morning of day 2 after the burglary I get a phonecall on my wo

Well both first lp's are great all the way through. "Gangsta boogie" is one of his best joints to me but his over all personal favorite is Gucci Time. If I ever need an entrance theme, that's it! His later work is not as solid, althought "Smoke some kill" and "Am I black enough for you" both are still solid albums. The 1996 remake of PSK featuring Chuck D i

Good list so far from everybody. I'd like to add:
Blahzay Blahzay - Blah blah blah
Great production with hard beats and quality rap throughout. I've gotten the impression while browsing through different forums that this album is more appreciated in Europe than in the US. Prove me wrong.
X-Clan - Return to mecca
I dont know what it is whith this album but it really speaks to me

Enta da stage gets regular play from me. One of my favorite albums from the 90's. Album wise I think "Total eclipse" is their second best. "How we do it" off that album is probably my favorite black moon joint alongside "Black smiff n wessun" and "who got da props". But the first album is fire from start to finish.
Oh yeah and that Fab 5 12" i

A lot of good things already said, so I'm just gonna add my 2 cents. To me a Hip Hop classic is an album/song that first of all commands attention from both fans and other artists when it drops, like it makes the established artists go "Damn that's something else, I gotta step my game up", be it beats, rhymes or whatever. For example Kool Moe Dee once said that when he first h

I might have believed it if it didn't coincide with a musical project and he actually spent a few years practicing the religion openly and wholeheartedly. Hard to say which is worse, the fake ass conversion or those terible songs. And the lawsuit? Almost as ridiculous.
