This 'kend...

Comptons Most Wanted ‎- Straight Checkn 'Em LP (Epic) 1991

^Bought this for myself on my B-day 2 weeks ago and finally made time to play it this weekend in between coats of paint in my slowly being finished studio. This is one of those (should be considered) classic Gangster albums that I slept on for way too many years. Laid back gangster, great samples, real rhymes and just about every single song is great on this. Bout damn time I found my copy.

Various - Breakdance USA LP (AMR Records) Unknown Year

^Like cheezy karaoke versions of Pop and Electro and freestyle hits from the 80s that were somehow legally packaged as "Breakdance" music on a Nashville TN label called AMR back in the day. Some of the songs are so close to the original "All Night Long" by ? (Dude sounds exactly like Lionel Richie) and others, not so much... A female vocalist sings Michael Jackson's Beat IT and Thriller. This stuff, I love, I don't know why, it's so quaint and funny and homemade vintage synth I have a place in my heart for these kind of K-Tel style rip-off compilations.

Best thing is the "Steps to Become a Break Dance Champion" insert, my GOD this stuff is so funny.

^Who writes this stuff anyways??((giggle))

Right now...

The Left - Gas Mask LP (Mello Music Group) 2010

Tomorrow I gotta hit the road and be in 'extended-family-mode' with 'Drunk Uncle Bob' (...every family has a 'Drunk Uncle Bob' or is that person, (don't even front.)) So tonight I'm busting out just the good Hip Hop to put me in my happy place so tomorrow when everyone in our family has that WTF look in their eyes at the dinner table, I'll be able to mentally regress back to tonight instead of biting my tongue.

Anywayz, file this LP under another quality Apollo Brown colab, this one featuring DJ Soko and Journalist 103. Very soulful samples, very Detroit-centric lyrics, progressively better from track to track. I don't know where I was when this came out back in 2010.embarassed

Right Now...

Fat Boys - Fat Boys LP (Mark Morales And Damon Wimbley) RSD Black Friday 2012 Picture Disc and Pizza Box (OG pressing was 1984)

Besides all the obvious 'cool-as hell' factors, they remastered this classic old school LP so it sounds loud as hell. The Human Beat Box is SO FAT sounding. Like hearing it for the first time type sheet, This is as fat as it can be and it's as fresh as it looks.

The only thing that woulda made this weekend's best find even better than this, would be if it smelled as good as it looks.

Scratch and sniff pizza type shizzo...

BTW, this full color book and bonus material is shit I've never seen as well. Real cool...

I rarely sell records BM31, only once in a while if I hate em, this one I'd never ever sell.
File under one of the coolest OSHH records I own hoarding type sheet.
