Last night...

Marco Polo - The Stupendous Adventures Of Marco Polo! LP (Duck Down) 2010

^Not as good as Port Authority, but still has some really dope tracks sporadically throughout this compilation of his works. At least half the tracks are good enough for a mixtape so well worth copping.

Masta Ace - MA_DOOM: Son of Yvonne LP (Fat Beats) 2012

^This is gotta be one of the best releases this year by far. Absolutely top notch samples, rhymes and beats, even the intro and interlude and out-takes made me smile. This is even better then I thought it'd be. Expectations exceeded.thumbs up

This is still my favorite track on the LP...

Over the holidaze...

Gangrene (Oh No and Alchemist) - Vodka & Ayahuasca LP (Decon) 2012

^Based off the strength of Russian Roulette and the online reviews on this album I bought this. It's not a bad album, the concept of using psych samples is cool, the art is cool, but it's no where near as timeless sounding as Alchemists solo release of Russian Roulette later in 2012. The production is extremely thick, some might say even thicker layered samples than what Hip Hop can handle. Great guest spots on this, but I think this is a case of too many cooks in the kitchen because it's so over produced. Strip half of that shit down into simpler loops and you got a great album, but as is, it's a trip. Worth having as a side thought album, but I shoulda known since i wasn't a huge fan of the sawblade EP they dropped the year before. Some colabs work, others not so much. In hindsight, I could justify this purchase as an experimental collaboration curiosity album with a few usable tracks but nothing more.

Comptons Most Wanted - Music To Driveby LP (Sony Music) 1992

^KAAHHBLAAWW! FINALLY!! I found this slightly over-loved copy over the winter break. I think this was in the clubs or something cuz it's filthy, covered with smoke particles and possibly beer or something. After a few cleanups it started to sound nice and hot, like it should. This is must have CMW, and I am thrilled to finally get this on promo LP. Even their clean versions are so dope, but this is the full dirty version, with the proper vocals, so I was unable to resist copping this. This is one of those Hip Hop albums where just about every single track is solid. Bass in your face, funky West Coast boom bap niceness coming out ya speakers.
