^^I always dug that Smokin raps comp. Definately the best one out of the Smokin series. Also checked out that DJ Riz joint, some real nice mixing. And I could name way more sampling artists that original ones...

Recently picked up this new comp of some rarer disco rap joints:

Hardkore - Boom
Cat Claw And Better Love Crew - The Golden Rule
Jazzy 4 MC's - MC Rock
Terry Lewis & Wildflower - The People's Message Take Two
Mr. Sweety G - At The Place To Be
Rappers Rapp Group - Rappin' Partee Groove
Rickey G & The Everloving Five - To The Max
Sinister Two - Rock It, Don't Stop It
Jackson Two - Oh, Yeah
Kevin Fleetwood & The Cadillacs Of Sound - Sweat

The whole comp is cheaper than almost every 12" by itself so it's worth having if you can't afford the singles. Most of these are some slept on joints which make any fan of the first recorded era nod is head. Plus it has some interesting liner notes about the artists.

Also revisited an old favorite:

Earle The Poet - High Noon

I remember a video for this joint, but couldn't find it on youtube.

My recent cops.

Xzibit - The Foundation 12" . I was always a fan of Xzibit's first solo joint ( At The Speed Of Life ) . Probably his only album I ever cared for . This is one of my favorite singles off the album .
Kero One -The Cycle Repeats/Check the Blueprints 12" . Another artist that I liked his first album , and didn't care for the rest . the Cycle repeats is a dope track about graffiti with a dope sample from the Pharcyde , and Check The Blueprints is a reminder to pay homage to the originators of hip hop with a dope sample from Biz Markie . I really like the way this cat puts his beats together .

Lost Boyz - Lifestyles of the Rich And Shameless/Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz, & Benz 12" . These are just 2 of those tracks from back in the day that needed to be in my collection . Lifestyles... was actually the first song I head ( and loved ) by the Lost boyz .

The Sound Providers - Who Am I ?/Fresh Rhymes 12" . Pretty nice , conscious rap . I was first attracted to SP by their jazzy beats . They had a way with turning the older jazz joints that most cats weren't sampling, and making dope hip hop instrumentals out of them . 2 good tracks on this one .

Boogie Down Productions - Criminal Minded 2lp repress .I know this album needs no introductions.. The repress is very good quality . Just one more of the albums I was waiting for an OG copy , but have waited too long . Glad I copped it !!!

^^I was just listening to the new Roots album online today. I like the fact that they are evolving musically and bring a different musical concept to the album but after all is said and done, it's aiight but not quite my cup of tea.

However I've been having the new Mobb Deep album on repeat all week, both discs. Once you skip 2-3 tracks in the middle it turns into a cohesive and enjoyable album. And the disc with infamous sessions is also quiality. Didn't expect me to like it as much as I do but the versions of "Eye for an eye" and "Survival of the fittest" on there are super dope. Is this the first proper issuing of the Eye for an eye remix? I know I've heard it before but never came across any relase with it.

I haven't really felt Mobb Deep in a long time , GMM , but really like what I heard off the new album so far . I copped a few joints over the weekend

People Under The Stairs - 12 Step Program 2 lp . I really like this album . Rchecka had pointed out to me that this is a big difference from their OM days , and I see that . Just like Rchecka , that was my favorite era for PUTS . Although it was different , I though it was great . Dope beats , with a laid back , but heavily West Coast influenced . Rhymes I thought were on point , but just like any of their other albums , you have to be a fan of their style to appreciate it . I thought it was a solid listen . Yo Rchecka , I'm interested to get more of your opinion on this album . I was also impressed with the heavy translucent orange and blue vinyl (one record of each color ), and the full color illustrated book with dope illustrations of the track titles .
I also copped a few Doom joints..

Madvillain ( Madlib & MF Doom ) - Curls / All Caps 12" . Two good tracks from the Madvillain album . Nice Madlib production .

MF Doom/MF Grimm 2x12" .
