Iron Maiden - Self-Titled (1st Album)





Picked up both this one and "Killers" on clearance. I have most of the classic Bruce-era stuff on old non-remastered CDs but I don't think I had ever heard anything from these two albums until recently. Certainly a bit different from the later Maiden stuff, but still sounding like the same group. Almost slightly punkish at times. Good stuff.

I heard a lot of complaints about these recent reissues and in particular the U.S. pressed versions that were done by United. Non-fill, warping, etc. the usual pressing problems that have been ubiquitous at that plant in the last year or so. My particular copies appear to be fine, but many seem to have better luck with the European editions pressed at Optimal in Germany.

^^ never really got into Iron Maiden , but glad you got good copies . United , which is local to me , has had a hard time keeping up with the increase in orders lately . They are actually pressing more records now than they ever have before ,which is crazy considering how many years they've been around . Sadly , I think it's causing their dip in quality as they are trying too hard to fill the orders with few too many resources . They are working on getting a second plant operating , and I hope that it will help solve their issues.

Leon Bridges - Coming Home lp.
This is a great album !! When I first started hearing about Leon Bridges , I kept hearing the comparison to Sam Cooke . Being a big Sam Cooke fan I was very skeptical , but after the first listen , can stand behind that statement . Although he's only 25 , Bridges has a very old soul and it comes out in his music . If you like love classic soul, cop this album !!!

That first Iron Maiden LP is my favourite.

Phantom Of The Opera is brilliant.

Listening to Red Hare - Nites of Midnite.

Tough-sounding DC hardcore that sounds a lot like Swiz, because 3/4 of this band were in Swiz as well.

@Rchecka, I will check out that Leon Bridges record. I've seen it in stores and wondered what it was. I do like Sam Cooke and a lot of other old R&B/Soul type stuff. I be honest though, I haven't really gotten into a lot of newer or retro type soul acts though...to my mind, they either don't add enough to the genre or just don't appeal to me for some reason.
