hey i remember this one. (Alphaville) I'll leave the station on this one if it pops up on the 80's flashback weekend.
Good one.

Yeah I remembered it from way back when but then forgot about it forever unti it was featured on the Soundtrack for Napoleon Dynamite.

EDIT: this was in reply to rchecka for the Alphaville post, i;m still learning the style functions of the forum...

A quick glance at our formatting page should bring you up to speed. It's BB-code basically just like OSHH.com uses.

Johnny Pacheco - Sabor Tipico LP

One of the highlights from today's listening. I don't know much about this stuff, so I'll just say it's an album of Salsa music from the late 60s, put out by Fania Records, which FWIU was very big for this type of music in the 60s and 70s. I'm not gonna even attempt to describe it in detail, so I'll just say the record is good and that you should check it out. grinning smiley

My recent non hh scores . The first three are records that have manged to come and go in my collection , and I decided that they definitely still had a spot in my collection .I'm not gonna bother with a lengthy description as I believe almost anybody that looks at these records knows them ..

Funkadelic - Maggot Brain lp. Fuzzed out funk , spoken word , guitar solos by Eddie Hazel that could make Jimi jealous ... What more could you ask for in an album . My brother-in-law knew I had been looking for a copy of this . He copped this recent reissue , and it sounds great .

Misfits - collection lp. I haven't owned any Misfits on vinyl in over 17 years . I lost all of my Misfits albums in the great breakup of 1999 . Never leave your records with an ex , even if it's only gonna be a few days !!! It's sad it took me this long to reintroduce them to my collection . Hopefully this is just a beginning and I can get more of their albums reissue or not . This comp is a good start though ..

Violent Femmes - self titled lp . So I have to admit that this is the first time I've actually owned this album on vinyl . I played the cassette until it wore out , but never came across it on vinyl back in the day . I wasn't sure what to expect with this Rhino records release , but was pleasantly surprised .

And now for my new completionist conquest...

Criminale Vol.1 Paura lp
Criminale Vol. 2 Ossessione lp
Criminale Vol. 3 Colpo Gobbo lp
Criminale Vol. 4 Violenza ! lp
These four records are amazing Italian sound library comps from the Flipper label . Of all of them , I think the first volume would be the hardest to swallow for most people as it sounds like an album score . I enjoyed it because it is loaded with old schools synths and there are some ill drums on it too . The other three albums run the gamut from heavy funk , to jazz , to psych , to a metal sound . These album aren't for everybody , heavy funk diggers and break diggers would love them . Most of these tracks are from Italian television and film in the 70s , so there is not a real defined beginning or end , so some sound like loops , but amazing loops nonetheless . All four volumes are on 180g vinyl and come with a cd copy ... Which leads to my only personal gripe . The way the records are packaged with the cd on the outside ..

The insert that is in the shrink , over the cd , has a foam post that holds the cd in place . This post caused a slight warp in all four volumes of these albums that I received . Although it doesn't affect play , I hate to see a warp in any new record . Either way I'm happy to have all four volumes and hope to see more releases in the future ..
A track from each volume . The Daniela Casa joint ( the second video ) was previously unreleased . I heard that track before any of the others and that's what started me on the hunt for these albums .

Those are great man, good completionism! I love cool comps like those, you get a big bang for your buck. I wouldn't be able to resist those in the store.

The Funkadelic, Misfits, and Violent Femmes are all classics of course. Dunno those comps but look interesting. BTW, I'm pretty sure those are put out by a Russian label that keeps changing their name or putting out records under different label names. They often package stuff like that with the CD on the front of the LP packaging.
