Today was a very mixed bag . I picked up a few pieces last night ....
We started off with..

Morcheeba - Big Calm lp. This is the 2015 180g repress . I copped this sealed last night for $8.00 , but it did have a crease in the upper left corner of the cover . No biggie though . I would categorize this as downtempo , although there are hints of a lot of genres . Folk , hip hop , soul , etc .... I'm not kidding when I say the list could go on and on . Either way , a great Sunday morning album .



Next was ..

James Brown - Papa Don't Take No Mess parts 1 & 2 45 . I feel as if I have to tell anyone about this classic James Brown joint then you need to do some homework . ...



Then we (me and my daughter BTW ) got a little heavier and more pissed off ...

Dismantle - Complaints ep . Fast , loud , and pissed . Just the way I like hardcore punk bands . Six tracks on a 7" too . I never heard this band before and picked it up on instinct alone . Score !! I was gonna give it a listen at the record shop , but some jerkoff had broke the headphones at the listening station !! This was still a win ..



And last but not least ..


Random Conflict / The Commonwealth of American Natives split 7" . Random Conflict has been playing shows around Nashville atleast since I was in my late teens . Yes , that's been a good while . Atleast 21 years that I know of . I've always had an appreciation for them , but not unlike a recent punk post that LionsMouth made , the lead singer takes a little getting used too . Maybe it's nostalgia or something , but I still love this band !! As for the Commonwealth Of American Natives , I had never heard them . But , they are actually from Nashville . I am so far removed from most of the local scenes these days , I'm not sure what all I'm missing .Funny fact though , I looked up the band and after lookin at a pic , I realized that right after I picked up this 7 , I almost bumped into and said excuse me to the guitar player / male vocalist who is also a more recent member of Random Conflict . This is a three piece band with a male guitar/ vocalist and female bass player / vocalist . Male drummer btw .. Not bad overall . Makes me realize I need to look into more local bands ...



Couldn't find a Random Conflict track off this 7" to post but I wanted to post something by them ... Bandcamp link , but 7" is sold out ..

Got 2 records in the mail today ..

Florian Pellissier Quintet - Biches Bleues lp . This album still has that back in the day spiritual vibe like their follow up Cap De Bonne Esperance , but with a more familiar sound . What I mean is that there were some fairly eclectic sounding track on the follow up , but this one sounds a little more commonplace . I don't want that to take away from the album though because it a great listen and I recommend it as much as I do the other album ..




The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle lp . Another of the cheaper reissues I've picked up lately that definitely didn't disappoint . I would be lying if I said I picked this up for more than the track " Time Of The Season " . I really didn't know much more from the Zombies . But to my surprise this album is much deeper . What a nice listen . I am much more of a fan of this band !!

@ JayBrown NICE, Random Conflict! How is that one? I don't have that one, is it anything like Tradition is the Enemy?

Pretty much . They've had a similar sound as long as I can remember . Even with a change in the line up .

Is that the reissue on Big Beat? If so, that's a great sounding one. It's an all analog cut from the original master tapes. I thought they did a nice job on that one. I'm a big fan of them. I don't know if the mono Singles As and Bs comp. was issued on vinyl but try to get that one on whatever format you can. They were a great band.
