Redman - Muddy Waters LP (Def Jam) 1996



^Original pressing of the criminally slept on album from 96 that just got one of those "3D Lenticular Cover" reissues, whatever that means. I don't know what lenticular means.

But I do know the 3D Lenblahblahblahs reissues that have been coming out lately are genuinely choice selections. This one should be on that list of reissues. This guy was SO on point back then, literally every single track on this is front to back is dope. Mellow with head noddin' vibes. I've had this forever, finally put it thru the spin clean routine and right now I have time to appreciate it without the years of fingerprint buildup. File under: Blunted, funky, sharp, lyricism and sheer niceness.

^^^Nice !! Been meaning to cop that for years . I actually slept on that album until about 99 and a homeboy put me up on it. I don't know the actual definition of lenticular but I'm guessing it means 3-D/holographic . The covers are cool , but unnecessary . I guess it's more or less another excuse for them to Tack on an extra $10 to the price of a quality repress. I'm jealous over your OG copy!!

I fux with it.

Sonically - it's shows the (hip-hop) evolution of Premo's productional sound. I know a lot of people that are familiar with Premier's classic production, may hear this and be like "WTF?!"......


...where's that signature, DJ Premier boom-nap, sound....????.

...I, being in the same category of folk, listen to this album and acknowledge (and appreciate) that it's a dope, show-and-tell-sound of.......not only Royce Da 5'9's lyrical prowess, but his ability to mold (and flow,) with Premo's next-level sound.
