Over the 'kend...

Röyksopp - Melody A.M LP (Wall of Sound) 2001

^A gift from my little brother. I always remember who got me what album when, it somehow adds to the personal value of the record. Back in 01 when this came out it was beyond fresh, now it sounds a bit dated for my taste but there are still so many undeniably feel-good mellow sing-songy downtempo tracks on this.

Blonde Redhead - Melody Of Certain Damaged Lemons LP (Touch And Go) 2000

^Very raw and punkish for what they eventually grew into as a band. Here they were clearly refinining their sound in full experimentation mode with the electronics. I love their later albums, this one is no slouch but not wonderful like their 2004 album "Misery Is A Butterfly".

Various - Big Hits Of Mid-America, Volume Three LP (Twin/Tone Records) 1979

^A nice older local label I found at my local downtown record shop. A really cool compilation of old Minneapolis punk and new wave bands from the late seventies. A lot of this music sounds like it shoulda made it to a national stage but I don't recognize any of these band names. A few really fantastic so-called inde rock "hits" are sleeping on this comp.

Dreamboat - Special Kiss 12" (Cosmic Chronic) 2013

^WOW. Cool. I wish I woulda had this for my space mix, it would have fit right in. Dreamboat is aptly titled, what a dreamy song...

BUT, in the wise words of Geordi LaForge from Reading Rainbow, "You don't have to take MY word for it!" Just watch this sweet youtube video, that's how cool this is.

Just wrote a little blog on the vibes and a few records that feature some dope vibes. These were my choices, it's not a "classic" or "best of vibes" records but more just four random but dope vibes records. ^^^ All of those are fire in my book and range from Latin/acid Jazz (Tjader), Jazz-Funk/Soul (Ayers) to Hard Bop (Hutcherson). Good Vibes!
