Don Cherry / Latif Khan - Music/Sangam
Europa Records, 1982

Some cool world fusion from Don Cherry and tabla master Latif Khan. This was originally recorded in 1978, but wouldn't be released for four more years. Originals aren't terribly expensive, and there are some decent reissues to be had as well. Give this a listen and get lost in some timeless cosmic space.

Those clips sounded really good. I need to check out more Cherry stuff in general. I probably have only 1 or 2 of his solo albums.

Gene Harris Trio - Genie In My Soul LP

So here is an interesting album I picked up on a whim. Rather than the more well-known Gene Harris from the Three Sounds that recorded for Blue Note (among other labels), this Gene Harris is a white guy that attended Julliard and some other highbrow music schools. Searching online, there is next to no info available and both this LP and another one on the same label (Jubilee) are the source of considerable controversy among jazz fans. Musically this is nothing groundbreaking, though very enjoyable if you like lighter piano trio jazz. Sometimes Harris will do some fast runs like Oscar Peterson and the backing players start swinging a little bit, and that's where the record gets more engaging. I like this enough that I will probably seek out the other album on Jubilee when I can (some insist that one is by the "real" Gene Harris but this is unverified and I have my doubts).

^TIL there are two or more Gene Harrises who make jazz records.

Shoji Yokouchi Trio + Yuri Tashiro - Greensleeves LP

Japanese guitar jazz from the 70s with a highly polished feel. If you like CTI stuff you'll be at home with this though this avoids a lot of the syrupy arrangements on some of the not so hot CTI albums. It's almost too pristine in a way, but repeated listens show this has soul too. I should also mention this reissue on Impex Records is one of the very best sounding records I've heard, ever - both in terms of how well the music was recorded and how devoid of surface noise and flaws the vinyl is.
