I gotta admit, I never really listened to this band because I probably harbor negative stereotypes based on some of their fans I encountered back in college. I checked out a couple of those songs you posted and they're not bad at all. Probably something I need to give a proper listen to at some point. Love that album cover.

I have to agree about some of the fans. I try to see these guys play whenever I can, and some of the people in the scene are clearly only there for the drugs and a party, yet claim to be die-hard enthusiasts. The majority of fans are good, decent people, maybe a little offbeat or eccentric, but that's totally okay because we all have our quirks, but some are just total burnouts without a clue.
I saw the same type of people show up in the Dead scene, too, especially after In The Dark came out and a bunch of frat boy types started coming around. They had no sense of the history of the scene, or how to behave accordingly.
Anytime I go to a show these days, whether it be Phish or Dead & Co., or whatever, I try to stay far away from those types. They can usually be spotted easily, because they're either hanging around wherever the nitrous tanks are at, or they're dumb enough to be wandering around openly asking strangers for drugs.
