LOL at Yosemite Sam. Is it the "Back off!" mudflaps Sam?

I shouldn't laugh, Joe the Camel is way worse than that. ((giggle))

Clear Light - Self-Titled LP

Psychedelic rock from 1967, originally released on Elektra. It fits right in with what bands like the Doors and Love were doing at the time, though perhaps not quite as iconic or amazing as those groups. I like this album though, it ranges from lighter, almost folk-rocky tunes to darker sounding psychedelia. Oh yeah, the band featured two drummers as well, though I wouldn't say that translates via the recording studio 100% on all these tracks. I'm sure it was killer live though. There is a note on the sleeve that tells the listener to crank the volume up so they can hear the drumming better.

I believe this was the only LP the band ever made. Too bad. Had they stuck around a little longer they might have put out a psychedelic masterpiece. This is the 2002 reissue on Sundazed, which is now OOP but you can probably still find it if you look around.

The Bevis Frond - New River Head LP

Here is a band I've read about for years but never had anything by until recently. Bevis Frond is the psychedelic rock project (going since the 80s) of Nick Saloman. He started off doing homemade 4-track type recordings and eventually moved to more professional sounding recordings like this. He's got a truckload of albums, so diving into his catalog can be a bit daunting, but this one (from 1991) is frequently mentioned as one of his more popular or critically acclaimed albums, so I was happy to find it. Listening to this I hear traces of Hendrix, Cream, Syd Barrett, and maybe even the Byrds, but with more of an 80s U.K. indie aesthetic going on.

Inner Tube - Inner Tube

I wasn't really sure which thread to post this record under, but it's definitely got a krautrock/psychedelic thing happening. The album is from 2012, released on Pacific City Sound Visions. Guitarist Mark McGuire and drummer Spencer Clark put this together, with each of them contributing some other electronics to the mix as well. I love McGuire's playing, not only on this album, but pretty much anything he's ever appeared on. His style reminds me of Manuel Göttsching from Ash Ra Temple, and the surf vibes on this record are right up my alley.
