I'm putting this thread here to cover stuff like Throbbing Gristle, SPK, Einsturzende Neubauten, Laibach, Nocturnal Emissions, etc. Post-industrial styles such as harsh noise, death industrial, and so on could also fit under this thread. You can post "dark ambient" and "cassette culture" type stuff here if you want but IMHO the ambient/electronic soundscapes thread is better suited for that. 80s/90s "dance industrial" and "industrial rock", Wax Trax, PIAS, and Antler Subway type stuff is probably better for the dance music thread but I'm not going to jump down your throat if you post it here.

NOTE: over the last several years there have been certain "fringe" elements of the contemporary industrial scene that like to focus on very "extreme" political and criminal subject matter for the sake of shock value. Anyone considering posting stuff like this knows exactly what I'm talking about so I don't need to go in detail here. Bottom line is, this is not the forum for that stuff at all. Take it somewhere else, because it will just get deleted here and probably get you banned as well.

Einleitungszeit ‎– Die Infektion Der Geburt CD



Most recent album (2008) from this Slovakian industrial project that has been around since at least the early 90s. The sound leans heavily towards the noisiest old school industrial, think along the lines of the harshest works of early SPK or perhaps Nocturnal Emissions. Quite a bit of diversity on this album, from soundscape passages to all-out noise blasts, scrap metal banging, loops, screaming, etc. A very solid album overall. Although I have a few albums by this group, but there is a big hole in my collection because their stuff is not that well distributed in the U.S. Some of the albums from the late 90s/early 2000s are particularly hard to get, as are the earliest cassette works. I think at one point I tried to order direct from the band, but the language barrier got in the way. IMHO, cult acts such as this would really benefit from a Bandcamp site, with albums available as reasonably priced lossless downloads.

Einsturzende Neubauten - Kollaps LP



EN's first LP, and a landmark in industrial music, though I think their next few albums are better. This is them at their rawest where I still find them fairly listenable (i.e. compared to their early, very primitive EPs). Even though they are making a bunch of racket, banging on homemade instruments, all this is compiled into concise songs, even at this stage in their history. My copy is the band approved reissue on Potomak, which is supposedly the only edition they ever got paid for IIRC. I've got the next four albums in these editions as well, and the quality is top notch, although the prices have jumped a bit from a few years ago.

In Slaughter Natives - Re-Enter Salvation 5xCD boxset





Pulled this out the other day and listened to a couple of the discs. One of my favorite post-industrial projects, ISN sound like early Laibach and SPK meets horror movie soundtracks. None of their material AFAIK was ever released on vinyl and this box is the best way to acquire all the classic albums in one go. There was an expanded teaser EP a year or two ago, so I think a new full-length will be forthcoming at some point.
