Nice score Rchecka !! I just got a Max Roach album I'm digging .

Max Roach - We Insist ! Lp. This is a recent reissue ( very inexpensive ) . I had never heard this album and admittedly picked it up based on the cover art . I Have a few other Max Roach albums , but nothing like this . Super politically charged and sometimes almost tribal . You also get Abbey Lincoln pushing things along . I'm definitely glad I copped this album . The STORY behind this album and the beef it cause between Max Roach and Oscar Brown is interesting too .

Also...

Gary Burton - Good Vibes lp . This is my first Gary Burton album . This is a super dope mix of jazz , funk , and blues . Gary Burton kills the vibraphone on this one . I'm gonna have to pick up some more of his work !!

Milt Jackson - A London Bridge
Pablo Records, 1988

A great performance from Milt Jackson, recorded in 1982. The whole quartet is in fine form, especially Monty Alexander on piano. The only clip I could find is the one below, but the whole album is fantastic. If you run across a copy of this one, be sure to check out the excellent version of "Captain Bill" that closes out side two. Flat out amazing.

Re: Gary Burton, this album with Ralph Towner is great, but quite a bit different from what you are describing:

I also have this one, which I didn't like that much at first, but it grew on me:

Picked up a copy of Paul Desmond's "Skylark" from the local thrift:

Love this take on Take Five.
