I never had this, just the CD version on "Rich Man's 8 Track Tape". Gotta love how Albini purposely left off a track to spite CD buyers. I've heard good things about the latest reissue of this - maybe I should pick it up.

Re: the MFA, it looks like that had to do with Electrifying Mojo. You may know this, but in case anyone here doesn't, that was a legendary Detroit DJ that had a huge influence on the development of Detroit Techno music.

Weird - that's the first time I've listened to that album in a few years!

I didn't know Electrifying Mojo's backstory - just read up on him. Spotify's great, but programming driven by someone with great taste can't be replaced by algorithms. I need to find something to replace that.

Very true. I miss 90s college radio a lot. Nowadays most college stations are totally commercialized and have little or no independence w/r/t programming. I do have a Tidal subscription, but I only use it to listen to albums I'm thinking of buying or when I'm away from my collection at home. I've never once listened to any "curated" playlist or anything like that. Not my style I guess.

I recently picked up another album from the 1859 Records catalog ( also released on Moment Of Collapse records ).

Dark Circles - MMXIV lp . I can’t listen to this album enough !! It is a hardcore album , but with a crust attitude . But at the same time has a dark feel almost like black metal . I’ve seen it called blackened crust and I can ride with that description .There are a few almost tranquil parts too that fit very well . I recommend this one if you like any of those genres !!!

I'm not sure if anyone here has heard of Celeste, but they're a French post-hardcore/black metal band that I think you'd like if you like Dark Circles. I would say their earlier releases are most similar to the "blackened crust" that Dark Circles play, but they quickly started to incorporate sludge metal into their sound. I think their album "Morte(s) née(s)" strikes a good balance between their old and new sound.

Another release that I've been enjoying from another French band is "un jour sans lendemain" by Mihai Edrisch. A few members from Mihai would go on to form Celeste after they broke up, which is why I'm mentioning them now. They were a pretty influential band among the European Screamo scene in the 2000's. I would sum up their sound as very melodic post-hardcore with post-rock influences and some solid emotive hardcore vocals. The second song on this album, "Naitre," is a good introduction to them. You can check out the whole album on Bandcamp.

It has been a long time since I last posted (basically since I first joined here). Hopefully I can find the time to contribute here more consistently haha.
