Inkwizycja ‎– Na Własne Podobieństwo - Cassette

Here is an interesting one I haven't played in awhile. My first cassette post here. Anyway, I don't know a whole lot about this band but bought this tape several years ago based on description in a catalog. Apparently this was the first DIY/self-released hardcore punk record to come out of Poland. The sound is something I'm having a hard time describing.

The guitar tone has a metallic edge to it, not far off from say an 80s or early 90s thrash metal band, but this is definitely hardcore punk and not heavy metal. Vocals are yelled with the occasional passage of melodic singing. Production is quite raw but plenty clear enough to hear what is going on. I don't speak Polish so I can't comment on the lyrics, but I'm assuming they aren't about happy fun times given the dark vibe of the music.

Probably something severely overlooked outside of Poland and Eastern Europe, I'd imagine. My copy is a tape on Nikt Nic Nie Wie, but the album has also been released on CD and LP.

Kieltolaki - Totaaalisen Tuhon Hardcore - Cassette

Raging hardcore punk from Turku, Finland. Going by the graphics and the band's style, you'd think this was released during the '80s heyday of hardcore punk, but these guys actually formed in 2005. I'm usually not a fan of these types of throwback groups, but this band does everything so well, I can't help but dig it. This tape is a compilation of their first demo and two different 7'' EPs. The b-side of the tape is filled out with live tracks and comp. appearances. Overall a very nice tape if you like this style of hardcore. Unfortunately the label that put this out (Totalmangel out of Malaysia) appears to be either dormant or no longer, as they've not put out anything since 2010.

Also, Kieltolaki released two full lengths after the early material compiled here, which I have not heard. The most recent LP came out last year on Feral Ward. I'd be curious to hear that one.

I checked out the stuff on the Bandcamp link, and that is a 100% accurate statement. Definitely going to being looking for some stuff from these guys.

Reptile House - I Stumble as the Crow Flies 7'' EP

Before Lungfish, you had this band. Reptile House lack the repetitive grooves of Lungfish and are a more straight ahead, dark take on punk rock. They only put out one 7'' EP and one LP before splitting up. The EP has been reissued by Dischord in recent years but the LP remains OOP and I've never heard it.
