I haven't heard that Cure remix comp before, but I dig the one you posted there. I'll have to check the rest of that album out soon.

Zeitgeist a/k/a The Reivers - Translate Slowly LP

Decided to put this on today. It's a minor 80s classic I guess, very much in the 80s college rock/jangle pop vein with slight country-ish touches. Later on the band had to change their name to the Reivers. There's some good songwriting here and the occasional female vocals help lift it above average fare of the time. Not the kind of record that will knock you out on first listen, but worth picking up if you like this kind of thing.

Silicon Teens - Music for Parties LP

Now here is a goofy, fun record I don't put on too often but really enjoy when I do. Silicon Teens were essentially a fake band put together by Daniel Miller (of the Normal and the founder of Mute Records) and the songs are all synthpop covers of well known songs. If you're expecting "Warm Leatherette" forget it, this is a lot more lighthearted and pop-oriented.

Great album! I haven't listened to that in ages. Thanks for reminding me how much fun that is!

Love And Rockets
Beggars Banquet, 1989

For me, there are some songs that can bring back such crystal clear memories that it almost seems like magic.

Back in '89 when this was first released, I was young and in love. There was this girl, she looked like Jean Harlow. When we were together, I thought I could rule the whole fucking world. She would look at me with her ice blue eyes, and I felt like I was burning on fire. We would put this album on and just dance and smoke and drink and dream of a future that eventually disappeared like ashes in a strong wind.

That was a long time ago, now. We last saw each other on a bad Valentine's Day night back in 1993 when things got so broken they could never be put right again. I've gotten old and gray and the world belongs to someone else. But I ain't dead yet, and I still have this music. I can always put this on and remember what it was like to feel so alive.
