^^^ the more I listen to it, the more I like it. I think you should cop it - especially for being such a Sabbath-head that you are.

^I bought that Black Sabbath 13 LP on wax 2 weeks ago on Amazon and it never shipped so I cancelled the order. WTF Amazon, that's not like you guys.

Gonna have to find another copy somewheres...

anywayz...

recently...

Karl Hector & The Malcouns ‎– Ngunga Yeti Fofa EP (Now Again Records) 2013

^I gotta have everything these guys do. I got their album "Sahara Swing", I got their 2011 limited EP "Tamanrasset" and now I got this LE of 1000 EP. In a short word that doesn't exactly do it justice, this is funky Afrocentric funk from the minds at Now Again. Really great vibes on this short EP.

Various - Blue Note Revisited LP (Blue Note Records) 2004

^One of the various "Jazz Label Remix Projects" out there. This one is probably the most unnecessary quite frankly. A lot of these remixes are pretty sleazy remakes of what were once almost perfect tracks. Some don't completely destroy the original music like Jazzanova's remix and Madlib drops one of his best remixes I've ever heard on this, but most of the other remixes are just tacky, especially Herbert's remix, that is downright horrible sacrilege.

Various ‎– The New Groove (The Blue Note Remix Project Volume 1) LP (Blue Note) 1996

^Another "Jazz Label Remix Project" like above only this one is MUCH more classy. Mostly Hip Hop production styles of remixing here instead of the electronic scene. Large Pro, the Roots, Guru, Easy Mo Bee and even Diamond D (to name a few) all drop strong remixes of the original tracks that don't detract from the OG, instead they enhance the percussion with their own unique boom bap styles. I didn't need 3 versions of "Mixed Feelings" by Jacky Terrasson with mediocre rapping by a young Gift of Gab, but other than that filler this is solid and well worth seeking.

Stone Temple Pilots - Purple LP (Atlantic) 2013 Music On Vinyl Import Reissue (OG 1994)

^KA-BOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! NICE!!!((lmao)) I got this as a belated fathers day gift from my wonderful wife. She paid a pretty penny (Pun intended WACKA WACKA!) for the preorder last month and it finally arrived last week. This is a FANTASTIC reissue, remastered from the original tapes, on 180 gram pressing. It sounds as flawless and rich as records can possibly sound. Comes with an audiophyle rice paper sleeve for no wear and tear storage, an outer plastic cover for the high gloss cover, and nice liner notes of the song lyrics and other recording info. This Import is a "Music On Vinyl" release and they put a lot of emphasis on quality reissues, I know because I have the RATM reissue and a few others as well, and like those this is lovingly pressed.

I have so many hazy but good memories from listening to this record and I can't help but sing along to every song. Top notch. double thumbs up "Too much trippin and my soul's worn thin!"

(the end of the borrow pile continued)

Raphael Saadiq ‎– Instant Vintage LP (Universal Records) 2002

^Tony(i)(e) X3 member drops his "gospeldelic" R&B solo album on Universal. Great stuff, but this just isn't my style. When it comes to R&B I have a narrow range of music I like and while I could get into this, I could get into a lot of other genres even more. Great album, just not something I would want. I'm passing on this. Wade can sell it in a flash to someone who loves R&B.

Roy Hargrove Presents RH Factor ‎– Hard Groove 2LP (Verve Records) 2003

^This kinda goes along with the Blue Note remix projects sounds, very "Hip Hopish" styled beats on a standard Jazz album. Common and Q-Tip and D'Angelo all make appearances on this but it's Hargrove that keeps heads nodding throughout the album. I want this, but only if the price is right. It's one of those "cool, but I don't have to have it" albums. Buy pile if priced right. thumbs up

...and that's all she wrote for the borrow stack. huh?

Tune in next time for...
