Last night...

(...was a very good night)

Deodato - 2 LP (CTI) 1973

^This is one of the first great progressive jazz (with a touch of disco) albums I ever got. I think I paid around 6 bucks which I thought was a steel for it and I was absolutely blown away by the sheer quality of sound and print on this. This is one of the records that got me hooked on buying vinyl. Since buying it maybe 15 years ago or so I have probably played this record 100 times. Every song is good but his version of Knights in White Satin is the best. It is meant to be played REALLY LOUD. File this record under: "Easy To Find, Must-Have CTI Jazz Classic"

Meat Beat Manifesto - Answers Come In Dreams LP (Hydrogen Dukebox) 2010

^The last album he dropped on vinyl finally arrived at my house last night. I am an MBM completionist (as some of you know) everything he touches I buy regardless of it being on CD or vinyl. For those who don't know this album is laid back chugging electronics with dubstep beats as the primary style of beats on this. Only Jack Dangers can get away with making dubstep so slow and hard. As with all of his albums and singles and EPs, his signature sound of dark, chunky techno is almost immediately recognizable. He's a tinkerer of vintage analog gear combined with his digital toys when it comes to his method of micro production. It's almost like he agonizes over every little noise. (See his studio here) He never strays too far from that sound that makes his music completely unique from everyone else. Once again, now that I got this 2010 release I have all his albums, as it should be, and as usual I really can't pick a favorite as I rank them all pretty great. This one is just another top notch production that'll get lots of playtime out of me.

Various - Sound City - Real to Reel Soundtrack LP (Roswell Records) 2013

^MAN!!! What an amazing collaboration of rock Gods on this soundtrack for a documentary that I gotta see. This has SOOO many cooks in the kitchen that you wouldn't think it would work at all but the opposite is true. This is a 5/5 album in every way. For example, the packaging alone is a 5/5 with a thick deluxe gatefold cover, picture inner sleeves, with audiophile anti-static sleeves that hold the records. It's recorded from the original master tapes (made clear by the cover) and pressed to 180 gram double LP.

Now that we got the bonus shit out of the way let's talk about the musicians. I mean, COME ON, JUST LOOK AT THESE NAMES!!!

Stevie Nicks, Rick Springfield, Chris Goss, Butch Vig, Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Joshua Homme, Trent Reznor
just to name a few!

So if you are keeping score of the band connections, that's members of Fleetwood Mac, The fucking Beatles, Masters of Reality, Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails, Kyuss,Them Crooked Vultures, Screaming Trees, Nirvana, Tenacious D, Scream, Killing Joke, Garbage, and a bunch more. Why these guys got together to make a movie and then a soundtrack I do not have a clue. On what planet would Trent Reznor and Stevie Nicks collaborate? I guess on this planet! hyper happy I am very excited about this (as you can tell) and I would highly highly recommend this to anyone looking for some extremely dope 2013 rock and roll.

Uptownkid, in particular, this for sure is something that you would love. Well, all of you would love this, but I know P would with the Kyuss\Stone Age\Masters connection for sure.

Here's one example of how good this is. Now, I'm not a huge Stevie Nicks fan but she is SO on point on this song...

Buy it before it's gone, it's limited.
