^RE: The Soft Boys, I am a HUGE fan of that album as well as a lot of Robyn Hitchcock's solo work. That guy has made a lot of seriously amazing records.

One thing about that reissue that you may be aware of is that it is in mono, that is true of both the CD and LP versions that Yep Roc did. This is because the original master tapes and the backup copy used for previous issues was lost or something. Really unfortunate IMHO because it was recorded in stereo.

In general I recommend an earlier reissue that Matador did sometime in the 90s on both CD and LP. I have the CD version but I'm on the hunt for the LP or an old 80s pressing.

Also try the Soft Boys' "Invisible Hits" album, it's a comp. of stuff recorded around the same time. Their first LP , A Can of Bees, is a completely different style of music and I don't like it that much.

^ That's a couple of great picks. It's been ages since I've heard "I Wanna Destroy You" - what a great song. I've never listened to that full album - and I'm amazed to see that it's on Tidal (a version with 30(!) bonus tracks) - I'll listen to it tomorrow at work.

Musta Paraati is entirely new to me - it's got a mood going. Generally I'll pass on goth flavored music (an ex- was a Sisters of Mercy fan - I truly hope I never hear "Black Planet" again as long as I live) but that works for me.

Paul Weller - 22 Dreams

Absolutely fantastic album by ex-Jam frontman Paul Weller. I'm listening to it for the third time and I'm still astounded by the breadth of this record - soul, jazz, latin, rock influences all showing up. Some very sophisticated, lovely arrangements here.

I got that record from a punk distro and have recommended it to a bunch of people. Surprised it isn't more well-known at this point. That is funny regarding SOM. I'm a fan as well, never dated anyone that was though haha.

I really need to get some Weller solo stuff. I'm a big Jam fan and even like some of the Style Council stuff but I don't know his solo career at all. That record sounds interesting for sure. Have you heard his latest album? The reviews have been very positive, but I've not heard it.
