^Very nice. I've seen that before in shops but every copy I come across is trashed. I need to get some more Donald Byrd stuff.

Good deal with that Byrd at that price, I'd be happy too.

Recently ...

Paris Smith - The Paris Smith Kenneth Hill Quartets lp. So the sticker on the front of this album says " Top drawer moody laden basement bebop " , and I honestly couldn't find better words to describe this . This album was remastered but it sounds as underground as it could get . Almost like an amateur recording , but it truly doesn't take away from it in my opinion . Honestly it adds a mood to the music that a cleanly produce album wouldn't have . I had never heard this album and honestly just took a shot in the dark on it .. I'm glad I did . I loved it the whole way through . It a limited 500 piece reissue , so if it sounds like something you might be interested in , you may want to bite now ..

The Three Sounds - Three Moods lp . This s a Japanese stereo reissue of an originally US released mono album . There are some great soulful jazz moments on here with some Latin / Bossa tracks peppered in . They somehow fall together pretty well . There are also some great string arrangement to really set this off .

And now for more of the vocal jazz that has been calling me lately . The first album is a new release ...

Shola Adisa-Farrar & The Florian Pellissier Quintet - Lost Myself lp . Shola Adisa-Ferrar is another artist I had never heard , but I took a chance on this one based on my last experience with The Florian Pellissier Quintet . Again , I was not disappointed . Although there's not much of the classic female jazz singer sound in her voice , Ms. Or Mrs. Adisa-Ferrar has a beautiful modern take and really pulled this one off . Being backed by a great band doesn't hurt either .

And yes LionsMouth , I managed to pull it off . I found a great sounding copy of ..

Julie London - Julie Is Her Name lp . I'm not sure if this is an OG copy or the 1960 reissue . But I do know that aside from a slight crackle , this record sounds awesome . As stripped down as a vocal jazz album can get . Julie and a guitar . I got this in the mail today , put it on , and felt the stress of the day disappear . Such a great relaxing album !!

^Damn, those look like great picks, going to add these to the list to check out later. Not sure if it's my browser or whatever but I'm not seeing the video clips. Is that Julie LP in mono? Re: Three Sounds, FWIU they were supposed to be mellow stuff like the Modern Jazz Quartet but never got popular. I have an LP where they back Stanley Turrentine and that is superb.

Great stuff JB! I'm digging the vibes on that Paris Smith - The Paris Smith Kenneth Hill Quartets, that's great.
