Interesting. As per Discogs all of them are unofficial. As I understood it, they are all compiled by various punk "experts" branching off the original first. Some are regional, some are not. I checked out volume one, one is for sale only at discogs and dude is asking for a hundred bucks!

I also noticed the Beastie Boys have 6 songs on that. I knew they were punk but this must have been some very early shit for them since it's 77-82.

Check this out. http://www.soybomb.com

^Yes all of them are technically "unofficial" releases but a label from Sweden put out the first 4 volumes originally. Other people jumped on the concept and started adding to the series. Those comps used to be everywhere. A hundred bucks is crazy. I think the ones I used to see in the 90s at stores were "boots of boots" if you know what I mean.

I think I've seen that website before. That is a cool guide to all those different comps.

Here is an interesting one. Canadian band from the late 70s/early 80s, very unique sound. The vocals can take some getting used to, but I'm at the point where I enjoy them now. Hard to describe really, so take a listen. My copy is a reissue from 2008 on War on Music Records.

Looks like Dischord just reissued Gray Matter's Take it Back EP on 12''.

Dischord Shop - Take it Back

I was lucky enough to see the band do a reunion gig where they played a lot of classic tracks a few years ago. If you don't know their music, this EP is a good place to start.
